For many years Ham Fest in Dayton, Ohio at the Hara Arena was the biggest gathering of Hams in the World, It was a huge event that went on for several days,, an interesting thing about going to Ham Fest is I have never seen that many Blind People in one spot, I didn't really think about it until I went to a Ham Fest but that is Their Hobby and understandably so,,, The Ham Fest is no longer in Dayton but it is still in the area down in Wilmington Ohio, I believe it is still the largest gathering but that hobby has died some over the years, unfortunately the younger generations are really not into building radios and talking on them,,,,,,

I will look into the dates and such, maybe a some if us from the forum here can meet and have lunch and a B.S session.
It only a couple of hours for me to get down there.

Anyone who has never seen the USAF Museum it is well worth the effort to take it in if You come to Dayton, Ohio , If You go to the Dayton Ham Fest You could knock two off the bucket list in one trip 👍

Absolutely awesome facility.

I have 7 baofengs, a Yeasu, a vehicle mounted one and a Swan 350 vacuum tube and a few cb's and shortwaves. 18 field phones including 5 T1'S a few East German types and a bunch of T12's and the switchboard...commo wire about 5 miles..

I'm down to 1 pocket protector. I only take it out for special occasions. 😄

Yes sir both the wife and I are are working aggressively for the next technician test, we have been told yes and no that it can be passed to kin folk but at the moment it has been given out to someone else.
Luckily enough the individual lives close and has been receptive to discussions reference the call sign.
Any advice is recommended for certain.

I was on the FCC web site and I came across the part where if someone has passed away you can request that call sign but you must have proof of the death. I found it under "Vanity call sign"

He has degrees in Electrical Engineering and is a communications specialist. He knows what he's talking about. Please sub to his channel. Ask him anything coms related. Like an encyclopedia he is. It is a new channel he started a couple months ago. Good friend of mine! I know most of you would like him. He's nothing like me! lol

If you were asking me, I have a TYT-TH8600 mounted in the roof of the Pioneer (The Grayfox) and I have a Yaesu FT-65 walkie that my wife or additional rider can use to communicate with me in the Grayfox. Ki5ijq

Thanks for your kind note. I am concerned about "G" forces and dust on my gear. Being solid state, I think it can take the bumps but don't have a clue on where the mount the thing.
