Out with the old in with the new.
New pressure tank for the house.
Have a few leaks to tend to but overall a success.

Looks like a job well done.

I see you didn't invest in 1/4 turn ball valves while you were upgrading. I wonder what the professional plumbers opinion is. I hate the multi-turn valves personally. I'm no expert though.
Idk. Just the valve I picked up.

I don't care for the 1/4 turn because you can't tighten the packing nut behind the handle. And after a few years of not being used, you turn a 1/4 turn valve and 70% leak and need replacement. Plus on the multi turn you can unscrew the guts and screw in new ones.

The valves around here have an adjustment? Not using Wolverine brass are you? JUNK!

You were right no packing nut, checked this morning?

Multi turn valves are good valves, they tend to not get activated because the are mostly out of sight and out of mind. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer 1/4 turn ball valves myself because of the 1/4 turn simplicity but when it comes to a valve of any kind, I try to shut them off and turn them on a couple times per year.

Thansk.

I have decided to squeeze in a pressure regulator when I take it apart this week to fix the leaks.
Any pressure set suggestions? 45 is default.

Also,
I need some tips on making sure round 3 is leak free.

Thanks.

Some use Teflon tape, I’d use pipe dope for the best results. 45-50 is a good range for pressure.

Also, good call on the regulator, they help with pressure surges.

On threaded joints, I use two wraps of Blue Monster Teflon tape and a bit of pipe dope. Make sure you’re wrapping the tape in the correct direction. Rule of thumb is 3 to 3 1/2 turns hand tight when making up the joint and then finish with a wrench for a total of 5 turns. I do find Chinese fittings with incorrect thread pitch and sometimes give trouble sealing. Cram it in one more turn.
The first two threads on a pipe nipple are starter threads, I try not to get tape or dope on the first one.
For the Regulator,45 PSI would be a good start. You could go to 55 PSI if you feel you need it.

So I wrapped the full threads. Not doing the starter threads may help make a better seal.

I'd say i did 6+ wraps. Had to pull a few off due to wrong direction but got them all correct.

I have pipe dope ready.
