I'm thinking about ordering the Terra 45S. The way I look at it if the solenoid goes out and it seems to often I can buy the Warn solenoid and still have less money in it.

Just FYI... it's cheaper to order the steel cable and then add synthetic rope and aluminum hawse.

I have not ordered a mounting plate as of yet. Winch looked too good a deal to pass up. KFI is where I am leaning but don't know difference between the ones out there

KFI or EMP seem to be the most popular.. Superatv also has one as well as strongmade. I went with the EMP for the way it mounted and trying to eliminate the steep line angle many have had with the bottom type mount.

I have the 4500 and like it, we put the 3500 on my fathers Ranger 570 and it's also been good. Had to mount mine upside down with the mount I bought. It states right in the Superwinch book don't mount upside down. Anyone have any issues with their winch being upside down?

A thing to note is it lifts the plows really fast which my father doesn't like so we doubled the cable with a pulley to slow it down.

I thought about building mine too but I found a KFI for $38 shipped. It would cost me more than that in material to make one!

Very true, I've already got a couple hours in it and don't have the winch yet and haven't cut the first piece of steel. I like building stuff, plus I get to put the winch where I want it.

Having grown up on a farm we always fixed and built our own stuff. Same with the hot rod, I do all my engines, transmissions and fab work. No way I could afford it if I was a parts changer. Please don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with buying and bolting on stuff, I just like to build it when I can.

@JTW how do you like the EMP mount? Any concerns about it mounting on the bumper? I know it has the U bolts that connect it to the frame. Seems like a straight forward install minus the wiring.
