Got the new American Racer tires grooved today and put them on the car. I'm really liking the looks of these Method wheels. This set of wheels and tires is the lightest ones I've run yet. 😎

After looking at those pictures again..... I really need to re-paint those nerf bars. Yuck!

I pulled/cut out more weight last night. Pulled the plastics out of the rear fenders, removed the tail lights and wiring harness, pulled the glove box door, pulled the plastic flaps for the passenger seat mounts out and then took a Sawzall to the back part of the bed. Between all that stuff and the air box I probably lost around 20lbs. 😎

That reminds me of a funny thing - in the snowmobile world, we have these guys that spend a lot of time and money shaving 2 lbs off their sled, while carrying an extra 30 lbs around their belt.

No going back to the stock air box for me unless I find a spare one. I cut the bottoms of both air box boots off and Gorilla glued them into the K&N filter bases so that they would "snap" onto the throttle body plate.

Anybody have an old airbox laying around they want to sell me the boots off in case my idea sucks? 😁

I believe I have a stock airbox. I'll look and see tonight if I don't forget. Getting rid of the Air Horns might loose some bottom end and gain top end but hard to really know unless you dyno or dragy it.

Thanks for the link, I bought that airbox. Can't beat the price and it comes with a filter with only 29 miles on it. My filter is still the original from 2019. Gotta love pre-filters!! 🤪

The big criticism I hear about the Talon is the rear suspension, it's supposed to buck like a bronco.

You obviously send it, so have you made major mods to the rear end, or is it not the problem I hear it is? Another thread did mention that it's an issue at moderate speeds, but not when you're seriously pounding on it.

What's your take on this?

Rear suspension is 100% stock except for the sway bar and radius rods. All stock frame mounting locations also.

My secret is George White at Double E Racing in Louisiana, that guy is the Honda Talon shock whisper. He does things with the internals of these shocks that nobody else is doing and it makes a big difference in the attitude of the car. His team races Talons and he is very familiar with the setups needed to make these things go faster and smoother over different terrain vs the guys out there selling boxed shock tunes to the masses. Alot of guys at the track started out the year running shock tuner "G's" shock packages and were sick of getting beat by the guys running faster with Double E Racing shock setups and now most everyone is running E2R shock setups. 😎

He's not a one trick pony either. He can set a car up for trails, rock crawling, go fast desert stuff and short course racing. George is also the exclusive shock builder for the factory Can-Am guys including the Miller bros who won and finished 2nd at KOH this year in the UTV class. Dude knows his $hit when it comes to SxS shock setups.

1. RZR & RS1: 1610 pounds including driver
2. Arctic Cat & Can Am: 1610 pounds including driver.
3. Yamaha: 1780 pounds including driver.
4. Arctic Cat XX: 1700 pounds including driver.

This is the LUCAS rules on the TV races. Do they hit the Yami's with that weight penalty on your races?

Ebay air box

I got that airbox from Ebay in the mail Friday.... Sombody didn't have much fun in their new Talon. The entire inside of the airbox and the filter with only 29 miles on it was completely soaked with fresh clean oil and a mix of gritty sand. I'm going to venture a guess that at 29 miles the engine ran out of compression and stopped running due to a bad airbox seal. Not good...

Well... The HMF fuel tuner I ordered last week didn't show up so I wasn't able to make it to the track for practice/tuning like I wanted to this weekend. Instead I went out to the trailer and thought about what I could do to remove more weight. It's amazing what you can accomplish with a Sawzall and a hole saw in just a few minutes. 😁

I cut more off the back and sides of the bed, Swiss cheesed the parts I couldn't cut off and then went full retard and cut the top portions of my nerf bars off.
