Day 1 of a 2 night 3 day camping/riding trip to Tackett Creek and Bell County Ky.

So over a year ago, @Lil_Steve (I think) send me some tracks for exploring pinal mountain. On my first attempt, I found a very washed out road with hints if rain in the forecast so I turned back. Half an hour later my machine began shutting down as seems to be common with a newer 700s. So I guess I was kind of lucky. I went back a couple weeks later and found that the roads have been closed for "cleanup". Today I finally returned. If there was much clean up on this section of trail i don't really see it. It's still unpassable with any normal conventional 4x4.

You'll want to avoid this area if there's any rain at all as you're trapped in a very narrow canyon with obviously lots of water flow potential....

Thwarted again.

So looks like my attempt to go to top of pinal will have to wait again. Normally I'd have a go at this or stack rocks or something, but I'm literally two weeks out from hernia surgery and can't really lift anything. Truth be told, the doc wasn't crazy about the idea of me out bouncing around in the side by side, but he basically said that if it didn't cause me discomfort it was okay.

Synchronicity. It's not just an album from the Police...
During the recovery from my surgery, I spent a week essentially bedridden, so i watched pretty much every YouTube video there is. Among them was one called aqua chigger. He's kind of a metal detector explorer type guy, and he's come out west a few times.
A few years ago he found in an arrastra...a device used to grind up ore. Probably from before Arizona existed. I thought about how cool it would be to find one of these up somewhere. Well...

If that's what it is. Obviously, this one's from the 20th century. Notice the car diff...

I would agree. My wife loves get out and see nature but as soon as it gets wet or cold outside she’s usually out.

Last day. Rained all 3 days and both nights lol. Still had a great time. The JAH turned 12,000 miles. Steering rack came loose 75 miles from home. 1 bolt was stripped but got the other 3 tighten up enough to finish the ride.
