Tool for shorting winch line.🤔 what is it? What it do?
I'm thinking an Eagle Scout couldn't figure this out.Had to look it up.
NOPE... Never used one.
This goes in a rigger's bag, a normal rider would never figure this out.
I figured that. Not a lot of weekend warriors would have clue what shorting a winch line would be but wrapping it around the tree a few more times.Had to look it up.

I'm not sure how to rig it. I'm working on trying to find out.I'm thinking an Eagle Scout couldn't figure this out.
He might be smart enough to deflect with a coment about riggers using it....
The x-lock is double the price. It does a little more from what I've read but I just want to be able to shorten the line and the tool I've mentioned is made for only that. Can't be that hard rig up.The same company makes this one, seems easier to understand.
.
The one you posted..uhm...nope, no clue.
Have a good day
I have made a flip flop winch to get my ATV unstuck many years ago.I'm thinking an Eagle Scout couldn't figure this out.

What's a flip flop. Move the winch from front to rear?I have made a flip flop winch to get my ATV unstuck many years ago.
Maybe I'm just too simple minded but.....why not just wrap around anchor point a few times or just use snatch block, recovery ring, etc?The x-lock is double the price. I thought it sound like a cool tool. Where you could need it, when you you really stuck and your only place to winch to is to close. Or, when you to far away and your winch extensoin rope is to long. I was looking at it for even winch some logs on the farm, up hill usually. They're heavy and you need to keep the winch line to on the last few drum loops, even some with a snatch block. This would be great, instead of having to move and setup again, just pull the winch line back out to the power loop on the drum and rig the line with this tool.Maybe I'm just too simple minded but.....why not just wrap around anchor point a few times or just use snatch block, recovery ring, etc?
That guy know's his s***. Cool. I like smart and simple.

I think I've figured it out. How to rig it. Just needed to look at the picute a little longer and think. It's simple. I'll try to draw something up and post it.So... @lee
Looks like it is just a modified sheepshank using the metal rod to secure it from slipping.
