P1000 Reverse light installation

I bought THIS LIGHT because it was the closest thing I could find to your QuadBoss.

And I bought this WATERPROOF Electrical Quick Connect because because you and @JTW was all giddy about quick connecting the light... I dunno.
Lmao.. I'm a fan of the quick connects because we're using cheap lights.. it's likely they'll get water in them or broken at some point, so it's just waaay easier to put them on a quick connect now and replace them by plugging the new one in. All of which can be wired, crimped and whatever else done on the work bench, rather than an awkward spot on the sxs.

I hooked up a quad boss 3.5" flood light to my reverse switched power on my 1000-5. The light is mounted in the center of the body under the tailgate. I used a nutsert and single bolt of mounting the light. For anybody looking to do this it's easy with the reverse light harness from the p700. The harness is 08Z02-HL3-A00 from Honda. It hooks up to the green connector under the rear passenger floor on the backside of the engine. As wired the light comes on whenever the Pioneer is in reverse and the key is on.

Does this light supply enough flood too shine out on each side of the rear tires well, and how far back does it flood?

I switched to 2 lights a couple months later and 2 is definitely better. I can see behind the tires in both mirrors.

Finished up my switched ground for reverse lights in reverse and with the dash switch. I found that using chassis ground through the switch and to the lights caused a back feed to the transmission ground signal which kicked the transmission out of gear. To eliminate the backfeed, I added a diode before my dash mounted switched ground. I found a mini fuse sized diode AC Delco 96500202 which is a GM fog light diode and it fits in a little fuse mini fuse holder Littlefuse p/n 0fhm0001xp. This allows the machine to provide ground through the diode but does not allow ground back from the lights and switch when the dash switch is on. Double check the mounting orientation such that it is blocking ground the correct direction. The marking on the diode looks like a vertical line with an arrow pointing towards the line. The arrow should point away from the lights and added ground

Here's a picture of my test harness. Light connections and added ground on the right, diode center and plug to vehicle left.

This is wired to the reverse gear. Really bright. Clears the bumper too.
