P1000 Question about tailgate

I just received my Honda bed extender and will be installing it this weekend when I am at my lease....maybe. When I ordered it, it said it was for the 1000-5, but when it arrived, it said for the 700-4 on the box. I saved the box in case I need to send it back. My question is, will this one work on my 1000-5? I know the bed narrows down toward the tailgate, but not sure if the 1000 and 700 share the same width tail gate. Any help would be appreciated, as I dont want to take it on the trip to install if it will not fit. Thanks.

I don't know the exact measurements but I did have a 700-4 before my 1000-5 and the 1000-5 seems wider to me

You got a pic of that box and its part number? Then we or you can compare it with the P1K5 number. My guess is that they sent u the wrong one tho! Those beds are different. Who did u get it from?

Actually, since mine is 2 hours away, does anybody have the width of the backend opening, from side to side with the tailgate down? I have the ability to possibly make it work with some extra stuff I have if it is close. If it is like 4-5 inches too wide, I dont think I can make it work. Thank you again for any help. Id just get the right one and call it good. Too much Money spent IMO to modify Unless you got it for free!

No, didnt get for free, but would like to get one now instead of taking the time to send back and getting the right one. I am pretty good at modifications, and always like putting my spin on things.

Actually, looking at those pictures, there looks to me to only be an inch or so difference in the width of the tailgates, so I might be able to make it work. Thank you for those pictures, they help alot.

The Pioneer 1000-5 and Pioneer 700-4/700-2 do infact share a tailgate.

Got out to the lease this weekend and the one that I purchased that was for the 700 fit and installed perfectly.
