Did a lot of research and decided that the 500 was the perfect machine for me! Problem is, I am going to look at a used 2015 model in green and it's just not my color. I would prefer either the yellow or the new blue. How easy (or difficult) is it to obtain the new plastics and do the switch? Cost wise, any ideas?
It's a 2015, 105 miles, brand new condition, with hardtop. No other options. Owner is pretty firm at $7,500. A new 2015 in my area is bringing $8,199 plus all the bs so I'm looking in the $9,000 range for a color I like. 2016 are the list of $8,499 plus the bs. Maybe I can get the dealers to toss in a top or a cover but nothing more. Thoughts? And help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

A lot of people do the same thing (buy a color that's not their favorite), you have a few options try finding someone that has the color you want, that wants the green, and do a swap the colored plastic could be swapped out in minutes. Or you could find a local shop that does vinyl wraps and make it any color you want. I would not let color hold you back from getting the machine you want, just my opinion, btw welcome to the club, great knowledge base here, they can help you w/ anything u need to know about the honda pioneer. If u do decide to take off the plastic fender piece off the back, be sure to take off the plastic snap rivet holding the air breather tube and unplug the wiring harness going to the rear tail light, the plug is right above the battery box. good lick w/ your p5 purchase. The rack has four bolts to take out to remove that.

You can purchase the new hood and fenders through your dealer , I think it's about $150

@Willandbill Welcome to the club! As others previously stated the color pieces are easy to get and actually not too bad on pricing. Depending upon dealer competition in the area should be able to get a new P500 for around $7800 +tax. If the P500 you are looking at looks in good shape it certainly is a fair buy without hassling with taxes etc. on it.

theres a guy here in NC whos selling a 500 with 18miles.

2015 Honda Pioneer 500
Thanks for the help and advice. Did some searching and found that parts fish sells all OEM parts and rear fenders and a front hood is only gonna set me back about $200. Test drove the machine and fell in love with it, although it may take some getting used to coming from a 650 Praire I've had since 2003. Now I just have to find a buyer for my quad. Wish me luck. Guys had this machine for sale for about four months, lot of lookers, no takers.

If you're in NC I don't think you would be interested. I'm located in northeastern Pa. Great machine though, like new, 409 miles, 237 hrs., never off roaded.

PlastiDip $12 for 2 cans, protects the plastic from UV and minor scratches. Comes in a range of colors and when you're tired of it peel it off.

I got a red 700 and was not what I wanted so I sprayed it black.

I was just going to mention this if we are talking about the same place it is track and trail and they have a few 2015s posted for $7499. track and trail dot net I showed my dealer that they had red for this price and they gave me a yellow for $7625 and ordered me the red panels free of charge. The yellow started to grow on me I still like the red better but did not switch them yet.

I still haven't made a move on a machine yet, new or the used one I looked at. I know the used 500 is still available, however I have to sell my Prarie 650 for the funds to purchase either. I also don't have the room to store two machines if I run out and pick up a new Pioneer.
Zxylene, if I am looking to buy the yellow plastics, would they be available? If so, how much and where are you located? Thanks

Lmk what you decide on doing. Nothing is happening real soon on my end regarding whether I go new or used. It is worth a trip for me to run out to track and trail if I want to go new. Still gotta dump my quad. If you do change your rears, there is some help on a previous post for what to look for to eliminate any problems. Good luck.

I quoted the fenders for the rear at my local dealer for any other color other than camo they are 125 a piece, the camo is over 300 per fender. The hood I did not get a price on but I would imagine between 2-250.

Partsfish has the OEM fenders and hood that you can get for around $225 plus shipping depending upon color. Not camo. Honda may be quoting with all hardware, I don't know. Parts fish has the hood reduced from $77 to $55. Just swap out your hardware. You can find them in 500 forums section for complete parts list.
I needed a hood for a 2013 Yamaha wave runner and got a finished OEM from a parts company for $64. Yamaha wanted almost $300 for same part. Gotta look around for the best prices and stay away from the "stealership" as much as possible. My dealer wants close to $200 per tire for Maxis bighorns that Rocky Mountain has for $115. Be careful when buying anything from the dealer. They have a lot more overhead with buildings, sales people, insurance, etc. different set up with reputable companies you can find on the net.

As someone who lives near Track and Trail...stay away..not a great place and, believe me, the price will change with all the hidden fees they charge. I just purchased new blue plastics for mine for $150 thru my Honda dealer//That included both rear fenders and the hood
