I almost bought ram then one of my old dried out brain cells woke up while looking at my hoist. I took a frame member ….bent…parallelogram(ed) and stretched it across the short dimension using a strap over the boom and then another one around under the legs and pulled it back square like it was butter. I actually had to be careful not to over do it, it was that easy.

Those ROPS on a Pioneer are junk once you bend them. For real protection anyways. I bought a rear cage for mine when i bent the driver rear section on mine in a flop. But I haven't had a rear passenger in 7 years, I opted to not use the new rear cage. My machine looks like trash but is still mechanical decent with over 18k miles of abuse lol.

Insured might only mean liability…which is meaningless for damages to your own rig.
No to be pedantic, but the OP's post implied that he had coverage for collision as well, but was hesitant to "take the hit on the claim". That sort of suggests he had comprehensive coverage, as if it were liability only, and there were no injuries or damage to others, there would be no basis for a claim.

I have 2017 1000-5 Limited that was taken out of park by my nephew and rolled backwards into a tree pretty hard. Thankfully everyone is safe and will be looking into Hillbilly emergency brake or something to prevent in the future.

It hit squarely on the passenger side rear roll cage and bent the cage and some of the connection brackets. If I wanted to spend the $700 for new roll cage section I don't think it would ever bolt up.

Secondly, the rear tail light was smashed and the plastic on that portion of the bed is crinkled some. It seems like that whole side of the bed is pushed forward an inch or so. There is no gap in the door and I can't get it open. Nothing looks bent in the frame but can't figure out how that portion of bed is attached to try to realign.

Only thing I can think is try to pull the roll cage back into shape with tractor and chain as my frame puller. Not sure on the bed and getting the door realigned.

Any thoughts? I have it insured not sure if worth taking the hit on the claim.
Id recommend getting the bed off, as much plastic, etc. and cleaned up to really see what you are dealing with - looked for obviously bent stuff, cracked paint, etc…. Should be able to bend, pull, fix, etc. but really need to see why the door is stuck.

insurance is not required in WI. Just an FYI.

I would get a quote from a dealer to fix it before you mess with it too much.

Then I would try to pull it straight. If that doesn’t work turn it into insurance.

Couple of reasons I can think of…

Deductible may be higher than the repair…
Overall increase of premiums in future..
it might not be insured.. not everyone has a specific SXS collision policy.
I put in a claim about a year ago on my can am 850 outlander max for a fender and front end damage. The damage total was $1500. The insurance covered a a grand my deductible was $500 so it only cost me $500 in asshole tax. I have progressive insurance and have had them for 20 years without a claim. My rate didn’t change from this claim. Your damage will likely run a little over or mid 2 grand at a dealership depending on what else they find after tearing it apart. I would just drop it off at the dealership and call your insurance company to tell them where they can appraise the damage. Good luck. Keep us posted on how you make out.
