Seeing you working yours hard reminds me of a question: is it ok to skip low and just take off in 2nd gear when cruising around empty?

Low seems like a granny gear to me.

Maybe a little of both.... :)

It won't hurt a thing to take off in 2nd when you aren't heavily loaded. I do it all the time.

Hooked to that disc, I keep it in L. It will pull it in 2nd, but the disc bounces around. It's nice to have the extra low gear for doing "work" like that.

Perfectly fine with second gear. Once you get on some rugged and steep terrain somewhere and see what these babies do, you'll appreciate low. But I never use low on the flats. Btw, what part of Texas are you residing?
