Hey ALL! New to the Club, and New to Me 2016 P1K-5….. I THINK! heh
FIRST things FIRST….. I am going to apologize RFN for the fact that my ADHD doesn’t allow me to type or speak ANYTHING “Quickly”, so having said that, it is my best effort.. if you want to skip to the Question I have, just scroll on down to the end of the Jibber-Jabber just after you see the word PATIENCE in all caps….. and again, I’m sorry for the rambling…..

So, quickly, a little about me, I’m 53 this month, act like I’m 25, move like I’m 85, dress like I’m 15, and feels like I’ve had a wrench in my hand since 1905…. Fabricator by trade, and love to restore things with wheels that require fuel….. currently restoring a 68 Torino GT Fastback (on temp. Hold) , and a 69 C30 Dually, Notched frame, on bags, full cab and bolt-ons down to bare metal, I do all the metal work, bodywork, Paint work, all of the leather upholstery, glass, customizing, electronics, engine builds, (ex machining, due to lack of equipment, otherwise I’d do that too! lol)
Anyway, I feel that if you’re asked “who built the truck?”, I can’t truthfully say “I Did” unless I actually performed every aspect of the build, because to me, it’s not about the money, it’s about the skill, and most of all, PATIENCE!!
As for the profile Name,”Master of None”….(Jack of all trades) Make more sense? I couldn’t think of anything else…
And for ME, that’s a struggle as I’ve been diagnosed as ADHD since before I could walk..
Nonetheless, I love staying busy….

Okay, so, my question is, granted I did some digging on the VIN, left side, under the bed, and have Most of it broken down, but what confuses me, is that on the hood it has the “EPS 1000” decal, and then on the bed, it’s got the “Pioneer 1000-5” which I assume the 5, is for the 5-passenger capabilities….. I also see the removable panels in the bed, and when the box is tilted, I see the seats, and the uhm… *cough* the rear doors that un-alive people, ALLEGEDLY!?! (Is that a “thing here like the main social media platforms?). Or the doors that open backwards, hinges at the rear of the door…

So, my point being, is I haven’t been able to find anything that tells me what the EPS is, at least not on any of the VIN decoder sites, that near none work…. I DID find anything older thread here on SXS that I read, and that helped for the majority of the VIN, but for the “Color and Model” line, or the 8th Digit, I haven’t found a thing!? I mean, the machine is CLEARLY Fluorescent Lime Green, lol, but nowhere have I found the EPS as a Model Nomenclature….
Will I?
ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome To The Best Place On Earth!

I really like the bagged pickup. What bed do you plan for it?

The EPS is basically an advertisement for the Pioneer 1000. All 1000 models have EPS (Electric Power Steering) so it is not "an option" it is standard equipment. Most all the other brands advertise it as an OE upgrade so I think Honda added it to their "bold new colors" annual upgrade at some point to capture the attention of people. The 500 does not have factory EPS. The 700 has EPS as a factory option.

Since you have a 2016 I recommend you verify the clutch recall update has been performed. You can find more information on this site with the search bar.

I have never heard of the death doors you speak of but I do not use social media. Probably propaganda the Polaris group started to keep eyes off their fire traps.
