I lived in Alexander until about 5 years ago. How did you fare with the hurricane? I started with a base model too.
@100Acre Alexander it’s nice. I grew up in Weaverville.

The morning of the storm, I thought I was the center of the destruction. I had power poles and lines down everywhere. The creek was flooding, and trees down everywhere you looked. I have 200+ trees down on my property. After we were able to get out the following day, I realized I was lucky. I’m doing pretty good now. There’s still a lot of people hurting around here. Sad situation.

Planning on using the 1000-5 to help get the trees cleaned up…eventually. Hopefully I’ll be able to connect with some people and have fun on some trails along the way. For me, the base should serve me well for the short term. I’m sure I’ll add things as I see I “need” them, lol.

I had always casually looked at the Rangers, but never could pull the trigger. I went over to a friends to get some deer meat right after Christmas. He showed me his new toy (1000-5). After looking at it I knew that was what I wanted…

It’s a sad time for sure what happened in North Carolina, especially with our lack of government support but if one had the resources I would suggest buying a sawmill. Why not turn the Bad into something good with all those trees down everywhere you could make a whole lot of lumber really cheap !

We may have seen each other at some point. I was in Alexander from 2000 to about 4-5 years ago. I lived off of Panther Branch. Worked the gun shows mostly….

If you worked the gun shows I’m sure we crossed paths.

I thought I had my first accessory figured out. I purchased a Honda bedliner online, but received a call that the free shipping listed was wrong and it would have an oversized charge applied. The local dealer didn’t offer much of a discount. I guess I’ll pay the Honda tax. I definitely want that version since it fully encloses the bed.
