Here’s what I use mounted to the roof. I plan on using a double ram mount this year. Hard jolts would move would slide it in the ram joints. You can see the tablet mount is set up for two mounting points, but is shown with just one. Picture of the Multiple mapping programs I’ve used also.

If you don’t ride a lot of the areas that LT has already loaded I wouldn’t pay for his mapping. You can just use Orux maps and have the same interface. Then you load gpx or kml files of where you do ride or just go ride and make your own mapping. I have the LT maps but I bought them when his prices weren’t so high and with the understanding he was going to expand his maps in my area with all the tracks sent to him. He never has done that and he keeps increasing his pricing. It’s getting a little out there now...

Thanks guys, I think I get it now. So I need a Samsung tablet and a case, then subscribe to Lifetime Maps?
Let us know that works out. North Starters up here sells refurb Garmin Drive 60s with VVMapping installed for $200. I was going to go with that deal but lifetime trail maps looks a little better.

Go to LT's website and make sure you get one of the tablets he suggest . He has test with certain models for best operation.

Just checked out their site. I see the tablets preloaded and it doesn't look like too bad of a price. The one I'm looking at is waterproof. Priced the tablet through Amazon and after $250 to DL the maps, it's cheaper to go through them. Would I need a case for this or is it ready to go into a mount?

You should be good with just a waterproof tablet... but I’d put some sort of inexpensive case on it just as an added layer of protection.

Yeah, I've been shopping the hell out of this stuff, research and homework. Looks like Otterbox makes a case, that's good stuff. Ram makes a tab tite and lock tite mount. Don't know if one holds better than the other or if the one just locks? Looks like the whole setup will run about $800.

I have the otter box defender on mine... I just hot glued the holes in it and ran some clear vinyl over the button holes for some added protection. My tablet isn’t waterproof though. It’s just the Tab A I linked.

99.9% of the time you will be looki g at something else other than the tablet. They all bounce. Normally when you look at the tablet you will be stopped anyways.
