Need advice Pioneer purchase?

If you choose the 1000, make sure all the updates have been done... clutch, heat, exhaust. Since it’s coming from a dealer, they should have it all done as a selling point, but double check just in case.

The guy told me he did not do them yet. It has 350 miles on it. I called the dealer and they said they could take care of it if they were not already done. Do you know how long it takes to do these updates. I understand a lot probably has to with how busy they are. Are the updates free to me?

Get a copy of the warranty repair order stating the updates were completed. The clutch update is a must have.

Once you get it, you'll love it! I have a 1000-5. I also have a 700-2 which is a Great machine! You'll have friends who will want one after you get yours. Let em know about my 700-2, it's for sale
The 700 WILL GO and has gone ANYWHERE the 1000 will go. Besides top end speed (which no one ever really uses much) the only major difference is the 1000 has a little more low end torque.
I do like the width of the 700 more though. Around the local parks here, I've found some places where the 1000 had to find a detour due to width betw trees.

I am currently torn between a new P500 and a slightly used 2016 P1000-3. I like how the P500 is new and it will fit in the back of my pick-up. I also like that it would travel well on my current atv trails on my property. However, I here a lot of good things about the P1000's. I understand they are completely different machines, but any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up a 1000-5 last year (a 2017 model after the 2018s came out) and really have enjoyed it. The only advantages I can see for the P500 (besides cost) is the ability to haul it in the back of a pick-up and meeting trail width restrictions (if that is an issue).

I think your comment was just a little unfair! What you would or would not trade for is totally irrelevant and shadows the real issue. The P5 is very capable durable and Honda reliable. In my case the 700 or 1000 will not fit(width) where we play or spend our time. Also the 1000 will not fit our toy hauler so not knowing the gentleman circumstance your opinion is just that not relevant. Not to mention perhaps this gentle man has a budget-familylies usually do....

If I was you I would look into the P500 or 700 4 seater. The 1000 sounds like a waste of money for what you plan on doing with it. Shop around if possible, I drove 100 miles to a Honda dealer because they were willing to throw in a free roof & windshield just to earn my business.

The 1000 is actually from a private party. Will have to research those issues. I heard something about the clutch.

Make the recall installs part of the sale then because they would get them done for free at their dealership.

The clutch and heat fixes were done at my local dealership at no cost. I got mine off craigslist. I would check with them ahead of time, but it shouldn't be a problem.

I got the 700 when it came out and was not happy with it so I ordered a 1000-5 as soon as they came out the a year later I decided I needed a 500.
I still own the 1000-5 and the 500. I needed to 500 for the 50” trails and it is fun for that
If I could just have one it would be the 1000-5 because it carries more people, rides better and has a lot more power.
With that said the 500 is a lot of machine for the money and I am not sorry I bought it.

Hello, I have purchased a new pioneer 500 it does seem to be able to do what I need. But they are some things that don't right suit me. The leg room uncomfortable on the driverside, the extreme heat from the motor up through the seats, lack of storage.

Stick around and check some of the 500 builds. Each of your complaints has user created solutions.

I test drove a 700 and 1000 on the big rock the dealership has to show-off the new models. The 700 nearly tipped on its side!. I was really unhappy and my wife was pissed. We then did the 1000 on the same rock, but faster, and she looked at me and said "you can have one". Need I say more? If you're married you know just how important that is.

I like how stable and the ride qualities of my 1000, sure would be nice to get those out of a 500 or 700! I know that's not possible but?

I must be in a mood today...but i have doubts that the 1000 has any significant stability advantage over the 700. It's a bit bigger, sure...its also got a much heavier engine sitting up higher (check the GC for both). Don't let the big tall ROPS fool you.

I looked at a Textron Havoc 1000, it's a lot wider than a P1 and I wouldn't argue that it would be more stable than a P1 on off camber hills, just can't argue with wider, you've got to find a compromise on where and how you ride. I chased a couple of 500's around about five weeks ago on there trails, had a blast, I made it, with a lot more revolutions on the wheel than they made. My P1 is stock width, no lie
