if using an apple tablet it needs to have a cellular chip, or addon GPS.
the android tablet is cheep. i use a TAB-A 10" the Tab-S is a great option also,
Gaia is the way to go also. app is cross platform, so it'll work on apple smart phone and android tablet, and desktop.

Not to start a war but you can ask @Kilo427 - he uses a Apple Ipad (cellular) and he has not had any issues with his gps... if you want to use apple you can always use a external GPS device that is Bluetooth to the apple ipad..

all that said I use a Tab A because that is what Lifetime trail maps supports. I bought into the program back when it was cheaper and you will see the most benefit if you ride TN area as they seems to keep improving those maps more.

I would prefer to go to Apple products as the Android system is just slower and not as intuitive but the Tab A's are cheaper and fill the purpose.

I would also look at using Gaiagps to log your local tracks.

32gb memory and 2gb ram enough? Can buy Tab A on Ebay for about $120. I don't want to go cheap and be pissed so if those numbers don't cut it let me know.

How do I know if my iPad has a GPS chip? it came with the Google Maps app and pinpoints my location anytime I open it or the My Radar weather app. Am I correct in assuming that it has a GPS chip. #techconfusedoleguy

Another 'navigation' question - will a wireless backup camera link to the iPad? Tech is cool but figuring it out gives me a damn migraine.

So the Sup case go into the Ram spring loader? Keeps the dust out well?
Would love to see a picture of it.
Mine is a 10" S4, but I've had this case through a lot and my tablet still looks new when I pull it out after being locked in a TabTite.

2gb ram is a little light, i found maps laggy if recording track logs also. i think the 3-4 GB ram is much better performer.

I have the same situation. I have an iPad Air 2. But thinking of buying an iPad Mini. Just want to get the GPS straight.
