Came to this forum last week after chasing a idle issue with a customers sxs, with reports of an ecu reset by a local dealership the machine in question would now no longer idle anytime no throttle was given the engine would stall or barely idle above 2-300 rpm. Various checks performed including fuel pressure, battery charge levels, removing spark arrestor and cleaning, new plugs, iacv inspection and replacement, checking and testing wiring and coils, frustrations had now set in after chasing down this issue to the point of borrowing another ecu where the problem still persisted. What came next was an off chance test of the cdi and there you go problem solved. Now the whole time the sxs gave no fault codes and performed as it normally should except for at idle so if your having an issue it maybe worth having a look at the cdi for your problem. The sxs had 600hours on the clock used on farm here in australia as a work machine hopefully this can help someone else

These units dont have separate ignition boxes. It's all in the PCM, so im curious as to what they swapped to fix the issue.

Swapping the "ECU" (same as PCM) like stated would be the same as swapping a CDI like in older units.
