I will be installing HighLifter 2” lift kit that moves both front and rear shock/strut, reducing shock/strut spring clearance. That’s a lot of offset. It will be close to 2”per side wider in the front. It will be about 2”wider than stock in the back.
never gave 12” wheels much thought, im going to look into, 12” with bead locker make perfect sense, thanks for the great input, 28”x10”-12” tire selection may be slim. Merry Christmas!!!!It probably won’t be an issue, just wanted to make sure you knew it was going to be pretty wide.
Good idea on the bead lock option. That’s my choice too.
My opinions I thought I share with you....
As for a 8” wide wheel, probably won’t be an issue but I like my wheel to be set in protected versus flush with the sidewall or sticking out. The pic below is a 28x10-14 on a 14x7 5-2.

Another thought is the wheel size. 28” tire in my opinion is right on the line of choosing a 14” or 12” wheel. A 28” tire on a 12” wheel rides a lot smoother and can flex more when aired down. There are so many guys that talk about how much smoother 30” tires on 14s is compared to 28” on 14s. It’s the same with 28s on the two choices of wheels size.
Your wheel choice of 4” out from the hub is a lot and may be ok. It is however more than most people use and I think the most I’ve seen. It does stress the bearings and suspension more than a 4-3 or 5-2. It will also contribute to more bent tie rods and bump steer.
Just thoughts for ya my friend
Good looking tire! Let us know how they work. Here is my final configuration, at least I hope since I paid for everything and had to special order wheels and rims.
Rims: Method 406 bead locker 12"x8", 4/136, 4"/4", ($770.74 w/tax at discount tire, special order)
Rubber: Terache Atlas 8ply 28x9-12 front , 28x11-12 back (no need for spacers with 2" wider rubber on back ) ebay $459 free shipping
Total: $1229.74
I found a guy on a artic cat sxs website through a google search that has been running Terache Atlas with excellent results, His local dealer pushed him onto these and now will not run anything else. Since I live in TX and SXS are not allowed on public roads, DOT tires would not do me any bit of good. Terache compares these to Maxxis bighorn, similar compound and tread design.

Had to make two separate transaction for rims and rubber, wife never badded an eye, if she know they were for the same purchase, bam

Are you running 0 off set just in front?View media item 3147View media item 3145View media item 3146View media item 3148Here are pics of 12”x8” 0 offset method 406 beadlocks with 28”x11”-12” with black jack tire sealant, torqued lock rings to 120 inch pounds, used silicone spray on rings and rim, added longer valve stem so to make easy dropping/adding air on trail, I’ll install highlift tomorrow and wheels. Used anti seiz on bolts and on few used tap to remove powder coat from treads. I have 20 psi while looking for leaks. Front tires are 28”x9”-12”, I’ll have to post pics, they look solid having them on a 8” wide rim. Worth the wait, had some choice words with discount tire, rims took just over 4 weeks to deliver, tires from eBay, Terache customer support was awesome, they shipped tires in less than 4 days free.
Im running 0 offset in both front and rear, front tires are 28"x9" and back 28"x11", no need for spacersAre you running 0 off set just in front?
I have used Black Jack tire sealant for a few years now on farm equipment, and never seen or notice a difference when it comes to breaking tire beads. I do notice a difference on breaking beads when I have used silicon spray on rim before seating bead. Black Jack makes awesome tire plug kits I use all the time. I'm getting a roof mount for spare, swap and goThat tire/wheel combo looks awesome!
I had to do a tire patch on the trail and even with bead locks it was a b**** to break the beads and remove the tire. Does that sealant make it harder or easier?
I used stock rims and did the same with tires, still busted 8 ply front tires. This time went with 30 x 10 x 14 8 ply all the away around and 6 + 1 front rims and 5 + 2 rear rims, almost stock width and the front is the same as back. I needed more tire up front. We will see!Im running 0 offset in both front and rear, front tires are 28"x9" and back 28"x11", this will compensate for P1k rear 2" minus width. Rear tires will allow rear side wall to be flush with front side walls (equal in overall width) I did this so not to have to use spacers, I though about it, I never would rotate tires, just replace as they got worn.
1 inch front and 2 inch back, should match stock rims offsets.OEM Front 14"x7" 5/2 offset wheel, 4/136 (Deluxe) hub-to-hub= 57" (1.5" positive offset)
OEM Rear 14"x9" 6/3 offset wheel, 4/136 (Deluxe) hub-to-hub=55.5"
Front P1k OEM Deluxe rim/offset/tire
7" wide rim w/ 5/2 os w/9" tire = [ 1",2",hub,5",1" ] 45" [1",5",hub,2",1"] = total width 63"
Front P1k Aftermarket rim/offset/tire
8" wide rim w/ 4/4 os w/9" tire = [.5",4",hub,4",.5"] 48" [.5",4",hub,4",.5"]= total width 66"
Rear P1k OEM Deluxe rim/tire
9" wide rim w/ 6/3 os w/11" tire = [ 1",3",hub,6",1" ] 41" [1",5",hub,2",1"] = total width 63"
Rear P1k Aftermarket rim/offset/tire
8" wide rim w/ 4/4 os w/11" tire = [1.5",4",hub,4",1.5"] (sp) 44" (sp)[1.5",4",hub,4",1.5"]= total width 66"
Key:
-os = offset (inches)
-toh = tire over hang, tire protrudes rim surface (inches)
-sp=spacer (if you used all 4 corner same tire width, you will need spacer to get front = rear width
-hub=rim mounting surface
-[toh/outer os/hub/inner os/toh] inch between inner sidewalls [toh/inner os/hub/outer os/toh]
-notice between [ ] = width of tire (inches)
-rim=wheel
-Honda specs: 1.5" positive offset, I'm figuring 2" positive offset to make measurements in .5" increments.
-I have an excel sheet I made to plug in aftermarket specs
