These are from my pre-sxs days of just overlanding in whatever conveyance I had at the time. This was about the 7th? year of exploring but in 2016. Just a year after I got my FWC Hawk. Last 2 pix are of the Lowman hot springs.

The CCC and the WPA (Smitty, that’s civilian conservation Corp and work project America) two outstanding FDR programs that have left us many wonderful outdoors parks, cabins, campgrounds, dams, roads and bridges to enjoy today and long into the future.

That “keep your forests green” is that written across the deadwood reservoir or warm lake dam????

After leaving lowman, I headed west on 21 towards hwy 55 north to Cascade where I picked up Boise NF service road 22 back east to Warm Lake and over to the tiny ranger station outpost of Landmark where I then headed north on (SR) 413 towards Stibnite along Johnson Creek and my final destination for the night around Yellowpine. There are a number of NF campgrounds (CG)along this route and especially both north and south of yellowpine. awesome trout fishing as well. The 1st 3 pix are the Rainbow Bridge(s) the Wire Ram in Cascade and then the road up. 2nd to last picture is Dutch Creek Falls which is an awesome spot to stop for a snack and the last one is a prehistoric glacial erratic. probably dropped there by a receding ice age glacier. The road up towards yellow pine is very scenic and has outstanding switchbacks offering the viewer some incredible views.

not Deadwood. been there too on a different trip. was there for the eclipse. That's the dam at the Arrowrock Reservoir on the Boise River

After YP, I HEADED INTO PAYETTE NF WEST ON SR 412 ALONG THE EAST FORK OF THE SOUTH FORK OF THE SALMON RIVER TO THE PONDEROSA CG WHERE I THEN TOOK SR 412-48 TO LICK CREEK SUMMIT. AFTER THAT I TOOK SR 48 SOUTH DROPPING DOWN INTO LAKE FORK CG JUST EAST OF MCCALL IDAHO. I HAD EVERY CG I STAYED AT ALL TO MYSELF.

Looking at this government web site, it appears that the lowest elevation on the MC is 3,000’ and the highest is 8,500’ that’s a significant divergence. Must be a lot of up and down along the trail...

Yep. Not many places where it feels like you are really climbing though, other than the short climb to Burnt Knob.
