I am about to put a 52 in. light bar on my pioneer and am not sure if I should get the 500 watt bar or if the 300 watt bar would be a safer bet. Have a winch and planning on a sound system and smaller led lights in the future so I don't want to overload the electrical system. Should I plan on running a dual battery setup?

Yes, is my opinion. And I would go with the 300, that's going to pull 25 amps just by itself.

I just ordered a 50" light bar from svt. The ad shows that it's 300 W and 4 A. Does that seem right?

Is it possible to upgrade the alternator to a more powerful one?
Yes but it's not much increase and expensive to have rewrapped.
300w is a really good size if you plan on other items and not worry. 400 if not.

300watts divided by 12volts = 25amps
Thats the formula. Watts/volts=amps.

Thanks, I ordered the 300 watt and 2 of the 18 watt cube lights. Is there a kit that has everything needed to run 2 batteries?
