I am looking at doing a multi-day ride in the Black Hills next year. I am thinking about riding out of Mystic Hills Hide-A-Way, does anyone have any advice on if this is a good place for out and back destination rides for about 5 days of riding?

Great Choice.!! You can go anywhere from there. Custer State Park, Needles Highway,Deadwood, scenic Spearfish Canyon, etc.

If you stay close to the Lodge you will have lots of SxS company. Still plenty of room for all.

You can also get out into the boonies and be by yourself.

Several good eating spots within 5-17 miles. Custer Crossing, Nemo Mercantile, Deadwood Miners , etc.

They are doing some road construction on US 385 by Pactola Lake. You will have to trailer on 7 miles or so of gravel. Not bad, just a delay.

Hope this helps !

Maybe you can get @-Bear- to share some of his secret trails ??

Black Hills ATV Destinations – South Dakota Black Hills hidden treasures. (ATV Trails, UTV Trails, Caves, Old Buildings, Ghost Towns)
is a great idea generator for possible rides. Last time we were there we stayed up closer to Terry Peak/Lead area and would not recommend staying that far north. Hill City and west for the win for me.

Not sure if your renting lodging but we used this outfit and were very satisfied with options/pricing

The guys already mostly have you covered already.

IMO avenza maps is what you want to use in the Hills. The forest service updates them periodically.

Does anyone have tracks files for any of the Black Hills trails?
Lifetime Trailmaps has them, along with 450K miles of trails in 32 states. The app runs on Android only, highly recommend a Samsung Tablet. The application by itself is $260 and updates annually for as long as you use it. They also sell Tablets of various size and performance pre loaded if you want. I've been using it for 8 years and am very satisfied with it.

This copied from "Black Hills ATV & Utv Riders" group on fakebook. Note the disclaimer at the top.
Some of the resort/rental (Mystic Hills included) places have a local map available for purchase as well but not digital tracks that I know of. As noted above AVENZA is well supported up there and trails are marked clearly.
