Got the passenger side all hooked up with the new braided brake line that comes with the kit. Got the steering hooked back up but Im sure Ill have to adjust it to get the steering wheel centered and the wheels aligned up with each other.
Got everything hooked up on the drivers side. You actually have to put the drivers side brake caliper on the passenger side, and vice versa, as per the instructions. Now to mount the front tires on the front wheels.
Got the front wheels and tires mounted on the machine. It clears a trash can under the front by about 3 inches now. I just have to align the front end and bleed the brakes on the front. Im gonna do all the brake bleeding last because I still gotta change out the rear brake lines when I tackle the back tomorrow. I think Im gonna call it quits for today. My wife is up at the local bar with her girlfriends. I think Im gonna shower up and hop on the old Harley and go have a few adult beverages. More to come tomorrow. 🍻
Ok back at it this morning. I had to let it warm up a bit and let my coffee kick in before I sit on the ground and pull these old knuckles off. I got the rear tires mounted on the wheels earlier this morning though with my ching chang tire machine. Its 10:10 a.m. here in Orange Heights, Fl as I start the day working on this machine
Out with the old, in with the new. This is the drivers rear backing plate that the portal box bolts to. They include a little spacer that you put on the c.v. axle before you plug the axle in the back of the box. You do that on all 4 axles.
Got the studs pressed into the correct holes and mounted the rotor. Now time to mount the caliper and change out the rubber brake lines for the braided brake lines that come with the kit. The directions say Im supposed to swap the calipers to the opposite sides like I did the fronts.
Ok theres the passenger side rear brake caliper mounted on the drivers side rear as per directions, and the braided brake line installed. Now to do the exact same to the passenger rear. Should be about an hour or so I guess.
Had a bit of a hiccup. One of the metal sleeves SuperATV sent in the kit that you press into the rear portal hub backing plate had too small of an inside diameter hole, so the bolt that is supposed to go through that holds the backing plate to the rear a-arms wouldnt go through. I had to drill it out to the size of the bolt. We're back on track now.
Got her did! It ate up the majority of my 3 day weekend but the wife will be tickled pink. Happy wife, happy life. Now I gotta chop the cage or raise the roof of my carport!! 🤣 Heres some before and afters.
