I just measured the outside of the of the black
plastic in line with the bottom of the tail lights
and it's 61.25" I guess the factory ROPS will not
fit the 1k3... I'll see if I can verify that through
Honda, but it sounds like it's a custom job if I
want it done.

Thanks!

John - I took a few more measurements this am. My P1K5 measures 57 inches wide at the same location you mention above. I hadn't realized there was a difference. Thanks for the info!

I am now at the point of designing a rear
structure to cover the bed area, and tie
into the ROPS. The design will be pretty
simple to get fabbed up, but I have to find
someone to make the top. I intend to make
it easily removable. I need to find someone
who make the canvas portion. Zippers, tie
downs, Velcro, and vinyl windows. Good
enough to match the factory canvas.

I haven't found anyone local, yet.

Something shaped like the back of
a Tow equipped Hummvee. (I can't
embed images from work, apparently).

As far as bolting up, the 3 seat has all the bolt holes for mounting a 5 seat cage. As for the bed being bigger and stopping it from fitting I can't attest to that. If you could find a lower section that bolts to the back frame that would be the tell all to see if it would clear the bed sides.

If you want to run the plastic honda top there should be no problem for someone with a tube bender to make that one work. I believe you might even be able to make honda's clamps work with a little sanding, which that may not even be necessary. Look for a 4wheel drive jeep type shop those guys build roll cages all the time. Even a race car shop. They even have tub clamps that slide in the tube and weld and bolt together so you could remove the rear section if you wanted too easily.

The 1000-3 bed is too wide for the 1000-5 Rear ROPS, I wanted to do the same because i HATE The rear seats of the -5 and want a 3 Seater bed.
