I was wondering what tire pressure people are running on their 1000-5 deluxe? I'm not rock climbing or anything like that - mostly dirt roads and some trails.

Honda recommends:
Front 13 psi
Rear 14 psi

Yep. It was in the P1 Nascar thread, helps with ground clearance also. That may have been posted by @JACKAL , he run's quite a bit of air pressure?

now i just crank my shocks up a click or 2 if i'm running hard.no more messing with tire pressure.i just run them at man. recommended .

Ok, lets look at @JACKAL 's statement , high speed handling, he has no venue in the high speed discussions, I like to ride with him because there is no high speed stuff involved, Gina would probably take his head off at shoulder height if so. I have a lot of fun with this group, just my speed!

FWIW, I'm running 28x10R14 STI Chicane tires and keep them at about 14 psi for Arizona trails. When I tried around 10 psi the steering was uncomfortably sluggish, especially above 40 mph, especially on pavement. I will only drop the pressure if I am going to spend time in sand (not my bag), or to get myself out of something like a steep loose rocky climb or wet conditions where I need traction.

personally alot depends on the tire, the terrain your on and the weight your hauling if any at all the stock tires i usually ran around 15psi and personally i dont agree with oem recommended psi and dont feel that they equip the unit with heavy enough tire for the weight of the machine i feel they are atv tires but tire manufacturers are starting to design tires that are designed more for the heavier machines .I run truck tires and are happier with the results of them never got a aggressive enough tire but i got 9k miles out of them im due for a new set this time im going with the super swamper tsl

Edited the title and added some other links.

As for me.. I haven't decided yet. Keeping them at 13/14 until I get some more seat time.
If you’re still running the stock 4 ply’s stick with 13/14 psi recommended by Honda. If you’re running 8 ply tires, you can drop them down to 10-11 psi without worry and I run these pressures for pavement, dirt roads and rocks.

Factory tires, I go 2 pounds over front and rear to just harden them up a little, wear more in the center. Only pavement for me with very little else, gravel or grass.

175 psi for me . . . no need to buy bigger tires and wheels that way. I'd try higher, but that's as high as my compressor goes.

Warning, always wear helmet, goggles, hearing protection, and full body armor when airing up tires. Make sure other people are at least 100 yards away. Workmanship is so poor on tires nowadays, that you can never tell when one of 'em is gonna blow.

8 ply Evil tires with bead locks and WE shocks.
Trail riding 8 psi - with soft shock setting at 4

Road 15-16 psi, and click shock setting to 16 (stiffens the ride).
Higher psi minimizes surface contact on the road, less wear. Shocks have less body roll on curves at higher speeds.

I changed my stock Bighorns to 3 pounds over, front and rear. 16 front, 17 rear so the 1 pound difference is still honored.

Kind of an old thread, 2022’s list 20 psi front and rear.
My book says 18 psi frt/rr for the 2022. It seems too much to me. I'm gonna give 15 a try.
I have the 3, the 5 is 20 psi. Both seem rock hard
