Two handy accessories arrived today. The digital depth measurement tool will help with router table, table saw and drill press settings. Depth gauge comes with a snap on plunger for hole depths. The Adhesive rule tape for the formica work bench. Ordered from Rockler. @JeremieBaker needs this!

Ended up building an engine stand for the Cummins, cut up an old light pole. Made of good 1/8" wall 4" square tube, good stuff. Stole some casters off an old floor jack to keep it mobile.

Which allowed me to completely blow my budget and tear the block down for a total (halfass) rebuild. Stand even has a place to clamp my fancy wine bottle opener so I dont have to smash the top off them anymore.

Picked up the head the other day, hurt the wallet but full valve job done, decent port job, machined flat and cut for o-rings for more horsepressure.

Next is sending the block off to get the deck resurfaced and cleaned. New main and rod bearings, rings, hone job, cam bearing and assembly will be in my dirty garage.

Haven't had much time lately, did manage to assemble and paint the motor, with some help from the boys.

Fired it up tonight with no issues, next will be getting the dual disc clutch rebuilt so I can drop it all in the truck at once, then fab up the piping/oil lines at for compound turbos.

Your helpers look like they're having fun!

They did have fun, got them interested in wrenching a little bit. Now instead of dada just fixing their bike they want to get the tools and help!

Had a busy weekend getting the truck road ready, including a trip to the pick n pull for some odds and ends on the interior, on the day that happened to be our 10 year anniversary, thanks honey! Made it look presentable again.

Got some light body work to do still, will happen another time though.

Underhood is just about done, good for now.

Last thing to work while waiting for tags is a rear bumper, couldn't find a decent one and my budget is spent, so it was time to hit the scrap pile with the plasma....haven't used it much so getting clean cuts were challenging, lots of grinding going into this one.

Ended up going around town with some borrowed plates to make sure it goes down the road right. After a wheel hub, tape measure alignment and proper greasing it actually holds the road quite nice, unlike many Dodges of its era. Trying to go easy was hard, had to give it a little go pedal on a straight away.....right as the big turbo started to spool it popped an intercooler boot. Probably a good thing, as it was starting to loose traction around 50 mph....a locker will be on order soon.

so,i've been looking for a small project on youtube to practice my welding.i found a kindling splitter that would be perfect for the wife to use.all these guys are using "scrap" steel plate, tube.angle that is clean, rust free and clearly not "scrap".i went down to the local landfill and scrounged a couple bedframes for my angle and what appeared to be a mangled utility trailer ramp, perfect 1"tube and a crap ton of expanded steel as well, and some rebar and an old axe i had lying around. total cost to me was 2 cutting discs for my angle grinder and a couple feet of flux core.it's not perfectly straight or square/plumb but it's close enough.took me a day just to grind off the expanded steel that was welded to the tube.in the warmer months the wife loves to go down to the firepit and light a fire, drink some wine and watch the sunset.we go through a crap ton of firewood/kindling
