Hey Bones, I got mine all water jetted and milled out. Just finishing up some wiring and will be getting them mounted up and adding some welded in weld nuts on the outer rails. I can't wait to get it completed and out on the trails.

I've sent these dxf files to probably 25 people. Anyone actually use them?
I can't open the DXF files with Cad Civil 3D 2015 or DWG Trueiew 2018. I utilized TrueView to try and convert to open with CAD and that didn't work either. I will print the PDF provided. Thanks @Bones!!

All, thanks for the feedback. I also want to say right up front, many thanks to CTDpower for the original file with all of the correct hole and cutout placement. All I did was take his file and change it around some.

PDF printed perfect :). I will just DIY it all like first post. No CNC or Water-jet cutting. Now I just need the time and money to find plastic to complete the project.

When I was sourcing it, I could only get white locally in 1/2" and it was around $310. There was a place within ~75 miles that had 1/2" in black, but they wanted to charge me freight regardless of whether or not I came to pick it up or they shipped it to me, which brought it up over $400. At that point I was running out of time before the trip I wanted the skid for so I ended up just buying pre-made. Looking forward to seeing pics of yours as I would still like a one piece design.

I used HDPE for mine. I talked to our plastic supplier and told him what I was looking to do and that's what he recommended. He stated that virgin HDPE is just as strong and resilient as recycled UHMW. I bought a 4x8 1/2" sheet for just over $100, so I figured it was worth a shot for that price. It took a couple pretty good hits at SMORR last weekend and held up great but I know everyone uses UHMW.

I struggled to find a local vendor to buy the plastic sheets. I have a hard time justifying the cost of the complete products out there, so I've done nothing with the file! (other than printing it out). Anyone in Michigan find a source for material?

Sounds like you’ve put what I was thinking of to the test. I was wondering the difference between HDPE plastic and recycled UHMW plastic when put to the test. The cost difference is crazy!!

Yeah I originally called and priced UHMW and then he started asking what I was doing with it and recommended HDPE. So far I've been pleased. I ended up not using the file and made it a little different. I made the center all 1 peice and then 2 seperate peices for the sides. F37e1287cd220741304ec47d3815b6da

For suppliers in your area, google ThomasNet and search in your area for UHMW suppliers. Narrow it down by state or miles from your zip code. I think some functionality of the site is not available unless you create an account.

Just thought I would post a update on my DIY Skid Plate install. I had mine water jetted and milled by a buddies machine shop out of 3/4 UMHW ( he had a bunch left over from a big job and have me the material. I just paid for machine time so I could be the price and I figured a little extra strength can't hurt based on some frame damage I have seen) I also added a additional 1/2 to each side to protect everything. To install I welded in but to a Ruff Stuff tube gussets and then welded those to the outer frame members. I think it came out great. Now I just need to get out on the trials and test it out. Thanks again for everyone help on this, and to Bones for helping get the files to work in CAD.A24e210f5245e18b43f180351b4e7271Ab7d9c4487628be6dc1d1208314aacd91e47cdfc8ec13044dbd65d11f59bb5b0Ed82542df3dc233950f060241aaf32edFdae7de2de9684807082c9b3fe8ecf52

3/4 is a bit overkill but it looks really good. I couldn't believe how much stiffer the machine feels with the side tubes gusseted.

Thanks, Todd I got the tube guesset direction from your build. Should add quite a bit of strength and was super easy to add. I miss my old 2 post lift thou working under jack stands is no fun. I know 3/4 was overkill but the price was the same as a 1/2 sheet if I just purchased it. I figured a little extra weight that low couldn't hurt.

Good idea on adding the .5" and gussets. That thing is bullet proof. Very nice job!

Thanks Bones, taking it out to Stoney Lonesome here in Alabama tomorrow for the first real ride. Hope everything works well. Just need to save up for the SATV arched arms and new wheels and tires.
