We hunt, fish, trail ride and remote camp with the dogs. Mostly used the old Rhino for this but was sold when we sold our farm. The Talon's good for some people but was useless for us. At least I recouped all of my money. Wife wants a 1000-5 so we can pack the dogs or some guest. Thanks for all of the replies.
You'll like the P1K5 for the dogs! I like it for mine

Why not split the difference and get a 700? I've been really happy with my 700 for combination ranch work and trail riding. The 500/520 just felt too small for much of the stuff I do, and the 1000 was too wide for some of the trails I like to ride. 700 was a great compromise. Well, that sounds wishy-washy -- I don't think it was a compromise at all, it's pretty much exactly what I needed (wanted).

I have a '16 P1000-5 with 6500 miles on it now. PI have plenty of buddies with other brands and 1 with a P700. There is no comparison with a P700 to a P1000-5. Get the P1000-5 and don't ever second guess it.

Yep I third forth fifth or whatever it is on the 1000-5 for what you’re looking for. It get a lot of hell at times but really is a good machine and a great all around machine.

1000-5 seems like what you need for the stuff you want to do with it

I owned a new Talon X for a few months last year but sold it and bought a Pioneer 1000-3. I liked the Talon a lot but it wasn't right for me. I tried riding the trails some but didn't enjoy them much. I'm an old man and felt that riding alone could be dangerous.

I was born a "car guy." I always prefer horsepower and torque, acceleration and a higher top speed, but the Pioneer is far more practical for street use. I've put 1200 miles on the Pioneer in seven months and consider it a good fit for my needs.

Narrow trails. 1-2 people go with the 500 much easier to run in tight areas

Anything else multiple oeople dogs gear outside work? Go straight to the 1000-5. So nice Easy to drive. Fast enough plenty of power. Tons of room. Love the dump bed 5 passenger setup. Buy a tailgate extention and you bafically have a small pickup. Honda sells trainloads of them. For good reason

BTW, are the blue 520s very fast or should I stay with the red?
Green is the fastest. Everyone knows that.😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Bring a 500 owner and I love it, I would recommend the 1000. A friend has a 1000 5. Him, wife, 2 small dogs and 1large dog ( that's moose size) and a adult beverage cooler is a small load for him. He had a Kawasaki Mule he sold to buy the 1000.

Officially the first thread where the pioneer has any benefits over the talon.

Throw all the advancements, durability, cooling, suspension, comfort, fit, finish and performance benefits out the window and BOOM!

P1k wins every time. 😂😂

All in good fun.

Some people need or want different machines for different purposes. Like mine wouldn’t do well in your area, yours would fail in mine. I want a talon and will get one however I sure as hell won’t get rid of the pioneer to do it. I am concerned I’ll really tear it up here.
like anything just because it works for someone doesn’t mean it’ll be perfect for everyone.
