What is the difference between a California model versus all the others besides the bed capacity?

I always thought jt was just a derating for the CA models. Is there an actual physical difference?

Apparently it's just a spring in the rear shock that's different. Found one selling brand new for about $15k out the door. A 1000-5 deluxe. Very tempting

Usually Ca equipment is subjected to CARB and will have a more restrictive emissions limit. Without doing the research, I'd bet this is the case.

I would have thought the same thing. Sales guy said it's just springs. But before I jump on that I want to make sure. It's also a 6 hour drive for me

What I have heard/been told is different rear shocks. I don't have confirmation. @lee someone with more knowledge of the machine should be able to answer that for you. The "C" I am assuming is California model has a different part for the rear shocks. Even though both are Deluxe which comes standard with auto-leveling.

Ironically the AC part number does change A to L so maybe it does lean to the left?

If rear shocks are the only difference... I'd like to hear the Honda explanation for why/how California's needs are different.

When I pre ordered min fall of 2015. My dealer called in Feb offering me a Cali model and stated it was identical but with 600 pd springs. I opted to wait until mine arrived in May. He said it would ride a little softer.

Thanks all. good to know its only a spring issue. You can find those CA models for quite a bit cheaper sometimes.
