That'd be my 1st guess. Try running it a bit with the nose as high as possible. and see if it drops some. Just don't overheat it...

Oh...i should ask if you ever get the fan on?

is this something normal that happens. it is a brand new 2016 that was sitting in a warehouse e
It's not unusual for various parts to burn of protective coatings when new. Don't recall ever seeing this for a radiator...but then again, I've never watched one. As long as you're sure it isn't leaking and is full (did you spill something on it?), i wouldn't worry about that just yet. Could be that the dealer sprayed it with some shiny sauce too.

Like others have said when cool remove the rad cap incline the front at least 2 ft and let it run watch the antifreeze level when it warms up you will see the fluid level drop and air bubbles come out

There is a 10mm headed bolt on the thermostat housing that mine had been marked with blue paint, it is the bleed screw. Lifting or raising the front of your rig might get the trapped air out. But the only way to be sure it's all out is to remove the driver's seat back, and loosen the bleed screw.

Does anyone know if the fan will work with engine off and key on? Mine was running hot (from mud I believe will test more tomorrow or the next day) so I cut it off to let the fan cool and no fan. Comes on as soon as I start the engine. Never paid any attention to it before though.

Fan will not operate with engine off. No need to because water pump isn't circulating coolant through the system when engine off. Probably mud or needs burp.

The fan does run with engine off and key on.

Sounds like others have mentioned that yours needed to be “burped”.

Same as above: 100% certain the fan works KOEO on the 700, but don't know about the 1000.

My radiator fan does not run with engine off key on (or off for that matter). My 7" radiator fan was delivered yesterday though, so now I'll just turn on my own fan under the seat when I need it.
