Are fallow and Axis the same? Sure look alike.

No completely different. I was actually going to hunt an axis when I killed this fallow. Axis have 3 spikes on each side 30" and taller is trophy range. They are brown with white spots all over them. Fallow can be a range of different colors and have webbed antlers. I was told by the taxidermist that axis are better meat than whitetail and fallow are better than axis... I haven't eaten any of my steaks yet so can't comment on that. Soon though!

Axis are all over this island. Very cool animals. Haven't had the opportunity to sample the meat, but am assured it is top shelf.
When I come back I plan to do some hunting. Axis, hogs and pheasant.
