What's the stock battery for the p500? Any recommendations for best options on Amazon? Walmart? etc?

YUASA GYZ16H - a 16 amp hour battery was in my 2015. That said I ordered my new one from Rocky Mountain and their online parts said to use the 12 amp hour battery. Without looking any harder I ordered it and it's working fine. I don't use the winch much and don't have any extra lighting so I don't expect any issues. Knowing that I'd be sure and get the 16 amp hour one next time.

I should note that mine was working well also, but since I see many of the 2015 guys running into battery issues around the 5 year point and I was planning a trip to Montana this fall I figured I might as well not take the chance.

Thanks! My 2015 battery is no good anymore and it's time. Honestly, if it's the original I'm super impressed! In AZ usually I'm happy to get 1-2 years out of one!

Do you use a battery tender at all? If not, personally I'd just go with a mighty max brand off of Amazon and save yourself some money.

Heat is the killer. Cold only reduces capacity (while cold). That's why batteries usually fail in the first cold snap. The heat damaged battery doesn't have enough capacity left to do the job.

I agree. Mine is working well at about 5 years. Most of my use is own my own property. If I were going on a long ride, or a trip, I would get a new battery.
