Saw this advertised at HF, anyone tried one yet, or a similar type? Seems interesting to take along on the trail, JUMP START, trickle charger, flashlight and phone power. 8 ga. leads.

I bought this one last year and it has been outstanding...I carry it with me everywhere the side by side goes. It was about $100.00 on Amazon. It has worked well. FYI

I've been using the DBPower from Amazon. The only time I've used it was to jumpstart a 50 horse Kubota tractor that was so dead it wouldn't even light up the dash lights. It didn't even have a problem.

They are $60-$70 on Amazon. Has USB outlets and adapters for charging a laptop if needed. Not as powerful as the model mentioned above but 600 amps hasn't been a problem for me.

@joeymt33 , yep, looks like more amps for car use would be better.

Well, this one claims to work for up to 6.5l. Not sure as I haven't tried it.

I do know it jumpstarted that dead tractor three times without needing to be charged in between and that includes letting the glow plugs warm-up. I'm sure it would start most cars and pickups. I carry it with me in my truck but haven't had to use it yet. I highly doubt it would start an old 7.3 power stroke.

My buddy has the same DBPower and has a 5.7l Nissan Titan. It jumped that engine easily he says.

NOCO Genius Boost Pro GB150 4000 Amp 12V UltraSafe Lithium Jump Starter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015TKSSB8/?tag=sxsweb24-20

Says 10+ liter motors, that's beastly.

Funny we've been talking about this. Yesterday my old '67 Ford with the 352 big block had a dead battery. It wouldn't turn the motor over once. The DBPower started it like it had a new battery!

I'd say everyone needs one of these things. Doesn't matter the brand I don't think. Just get one!

Joey's right, everyone should have one. I've been carrying a Bestek brand one for about a year. I've jumped my truck a couple of times and my gutter guy's box truck once. He asked me if I had some cables and I told him I had something better, he looked a bit skeptical when I brought it out but it fired it right up. The days of jumper cables are done. Just check the charge occasionally.

My GB 40s came too, it fully charged overnight on USB. Better features than I expected. Like the multiple flashlight and bright strobe wig wag patterns, ...and back up cell phone power. Thinking it' would be good for emergency warning signal stranded on trail, road or in hurricane (after watching the rescues on the news). Thanks for the recommendations, much more than a just a jump starter. Tried to upload video, but won't accept iPad .mov file.
