Ok so I've never posted any repairs start to finish or added more than 3 pics to a message so here goes.
2016 new year ride in a first time sxs ride. What happens I center hang a rock that looks like mud on the trail. It broke 3 bolts on the front if the engine skid plate. The front of the skid plate folded in half backwards acting as a plow. I have since straightened it out multiple times because it CAKES with mud and I feel the engine vibrations were it is jam packed. So I changed the oil today and thought why not let's fix this. So I removed the engine skid plate with 3 broken bolts and
water running down one arm since the frame was full of water this is my frame.
Ok now to remove bolts. Tools I used :
1/2 cordless drill, 1/8 & 3/8 drill bit, centering punch, astro pneumatic nutsert kit.
Center punched the holes
Drilling the first bolt and it broke loose screwing through the frame and broke my 1/8 bit but that's ok $388 they have a lifetime warranty..
Drilled the second bolt and it doesn't budge so drill it with 3/8 bit and use my nutsert tool to install a threaded insert.
A few hits with the LFH (little F'n hammer) on a couple 6x6's and the skids are as good as it's gonna get.
3 M6 bolts plus the existing stock bolts and my skids reinstalled better than new.
