P1000 5+2 or 4+3 ? 4/136 - 4/137

Hello, very new to forums, first post ever, so please bear with me. I have a 2017 pioneer 1000-5. I want put new tires and wheels on her. I have decided to go with 28x10-14 tires and 14x7 wheels on all four corners so i can rotate them. My stock wheels are, [Front - 12x6.5 - 4.5 + 2] [Back - 12x8 - 5.5 + 2.5] Now, to keep my track the same, i assume i will have to add 1" spacers on the rear. My questions are #1. Witch off set to use, 5+2 or 4+3? Can anyone tell me what the width of the machine with a 5+2 offset and a 4+3 offset will be? #2. Honda says 4/136 bolt pattern, will 4/137 work on this machine?

I did the exact same thing as you. Bought 5 wheel/tire in the same size to be able to have a spare. I used Tusk products from ATV Parts, ATV Tires, Dirt Bike Parts, Motocross Gear, Motorcycle parts and Motorcycle Tires | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. Went with 28x10-14 with a 5+2 offset. They were a 4/137 bolt pattern and fit perfectly.
I measured wheel width before and after and my measurements are below. I added the Fox shocks at the same time with the preload set to factory, and gained about an inch of ground clearance all around as well. Thats without pre-loading for another 1/2" or more.

Stock:
Front wheel total width 62”
Rear wheel total width 63”

Aftermarket
Front wheel total width 63”
Rear wheel total width 64 1/2”

True. Without spacers in the rear, the buggy is 1” narrower in the rear. I just went through this with mine. 5x2 offset. 1” spacers in the rear. Mounted 27x9x12 all four corners. Got 65.5” all around. This is measured at the extreme outer edges of the rubber. I feel some people aren’t measuring correctly.

The front and rear of the P1k are different width. That is why the stock offset is 6+ 1 front and 4+3 rear. Not one Fxcking wheel company make proper off set wheels to keep factory original width.

Ok i agree some people may be measuring incorrectly or maybe measuring differently. The stock width of my machine is 63" front and rear measuring rubber to rubber. My stock front wheels are 12x6.5 with a 4.5+2 offset. So, if i go to a 14x7 with a 5+2. Will that not make me narrower in total width? What i really need to know is total width of machine from anyone using a 28x10-14 tire with a 14x7 wheel with a 5+2 offset and anyone using a 28x10-14 tire with a 14x7 wheel with a 4+3 offset. Then i will be able to decide on which offset to go with, 5+2 or 4+3

Here’s mine, 4+3 wheels with 1.5” spacers in the rear and 1” spacers up front with 30x10-14 on all four corners.

Rear 5 + 2 front 6 + 1, gives you the exact width of factory front and rear, no spacers. I have no need to rotate tires.

I already gave you the answer with my using 9” rubber. Understand every brand of tire width may or may not be as advertised. My 9” wide tires actually measure 9.5” wide at the extreme width, not tread width. Those are two different measurements. I measure at the extreme outer width because that is the true width. So with 9.5” wide tires, 5x2 offset wheels, 1” spacers in the rear, I get exactly 65.5” width on both ends. That is a true measurement using angle iron placed on both sides of the buggy when I was doing an alignment. So if I wa to put a true 10” tire on, I would deduce my width would be 66.5”.

After market wheels are 7” wide, front and rear. 6+1 and 4+3 are the closest after market match to stock width.

Ok, thanks guys. I knew a tire height varied but never give it a thought that the width could vary too. I believe i will go with this set up---- 28x10-14 tusk terrabites with 14x7 tusk cascade wheel with a 4+3 offset on all four corners and 1" spacers in the rear. Any pro's and con's on this set up from the members would be greatly appreciated.

You’ll be pretty wide with 4/3 offset. My guess nominally around 67”. As long as you don’t have trail width restrictions your ok. You’ll probably get a lot of mud flung in the buggy without fender flairs. I’d personally stick with 5/2 offset with the 1” spacers in the rear. It’s what most people do here it’s good results. This is what 65.5” looks like.

I have the STI 5/2 with 1 inch RB3 wheel spacers on the rear. 28-14-9 front and 28-14-11 on the rear.

Are you still stock on suspension? Do you rub at all with 11" width rear?
