Might just be me but the trail permits are a bit confusing.

OUT OF STATE VISITOR:
  • Daily Permit: Type 38, cost $40
  • 7 day Pass: Type 72 plus Type 93, cost $84
  • Annual Pass: Type 71 plus Type 93, cost $133
  • Junior Annual (13+): Type 70 plus Type 94, cost $36
Type 72 and 93 doesn't say anything about off road vehicles. I'd like a pass for Thursday-Sunday and I'm hoping a week is cheaper than individual days.

So what are out of state guys buying?

I did the 7 day high impact for $84.

I'm bringing a stove / grill for the trail so bring the meat!
Well, if you ride in JTWs group you might have time to fire up a grill and cook while people repair his machine and riding, but not with any others I've seen. Leave the cooking for camp, unless you are overlanding for the evening.

We always take a grill and stop mid day somewhere and cook hot dogs or something. It doesn’t take much longer than the jetboils most of the guys are using these days. Everyone has their preference. I’m not that hard pressed for riding to stop for 30-45 minutes one time during the day for a meal...

I agree! An event this size, it's about hanging with people you see once a year. The riding is great, but I am looking forward to seeing and hanging out with people again.

We've all ridden these trails enough at this point. The 5-30 style is as much fun as anything anymore.
