I picked up the wrong Honda oil for my 1000-5.

I got 10w40 and should have 10w30 by mistake.

Dealer is 45 mins away and only source of oil to me other than online.

Would it be okay to run the 10w40 or should I get 10w30?

The Honda dealer in Oklahoma only carries 10-40. I asked him why, and he said it does not get cold enough here for the 10-30. According to his reasoning, the 10-30 flows/lubricates faster for extremely cold start-ups. This time of year, I would think you would be fine, even in South Dakota.

Thanks for the reply.

I don’t think it’s a big deal on my 2018, just wasn’t sure if there were any clutch issues or not.

Had the 1000 manual sitting at my desk so took a pic from the book. Looks like it should work fine.
