P500 Cargo box/bed

I'm considering changing the cargo box. I looked closely at it on the 520, in my opinion it is a plastic tub screwed to the frame. I suppose it has a factory finish look, but I think I can forgo looks and build something more robust and and useful to me. Parts are starting to arrive, roof is on, windshield, underhood tub, winch, have arrived. Hoping to get it in the workshop next week.

Some manufacturers make cargo boxes as well if that is an easier option.

Have a P520 modified the rear box to suit my needs. ( all done with aluminum )
And Tonneau Cover keep every thing Dry & Dust Proof.

Done couple P500 with Box ( using Truck Box Liner )

Along with the items you listed I also added a power outlet to charge a phone or inflate a tire. I also added a compass but it is only accurate when the 4x4 is not running. Last is an extra gas tank to extend our range by 2 gallons (40 miles).

Okay, working on the unit and found it has a factory 12v outlet and to my surprise skid plates

I think someone more familiar with the 500 will come along to help verify but I believe that the OE Honda skid plate is not worth trusting.

The skid plate is heavy guage plastic so it's not the best but where did you find a power outlet?

Yeah, that power outlet is a bit hidden.
The skid plate is certainly light duty only. Depends on your usage if you'll need to upgrade or not.

Was it the way @KyGal83 sometimes parks her P5 that you were able to find it?
I was in at the Dealership buying parts and they had a 25 P52, very nice!

As shown in the thread link above, I was lucky to find 10 aluminum boxes as take offs from Yamaha Umax SxSs. Never hurts to search ebay or facebook market place.

The power outlet is located more under the dash. If you look at the 2WD / 4WD shifter, go to the right about 2 inches and trace down towards the floor, following under the dash and you will come to a rubber plug covered 12V cigarette lighter type outlet.

I think the rubber weather plug is what hides the outlet so well - blends in with the black plastic of the lower dash really good.

Making progress. roof, windshield, winch, brush guard, mirrors, storage tub. I suppose tires are next, considering ams evil-2, 27x9x12 front and 27x11x12 rear. Waiting for ice out to go fly fishing in north frontenac.

Seems unlikely. Honda rarely (read never) makes changes to the P5s.
Maybe that particular parts bin ran dry, but I doubt it.
