Make sure I’m not overlooking something obvious...

Dad went to hop in his machine yesterday and it wouldn’t start... it ran fine the day before. He parked it in the shop and the next day when he went to leave and it would turn over but not fire. I got there later and messed with it...

Tried the peddle down and turning it over.. I can hear the pump so it’s working moving fuel. I can smell gas out of the muffler. So it’s getting fuel. Battery has been fully charged and it’s turning over. But no firing. I also checked all the fuses and they were good. Checked the oil level. I’ve rolled it and shifted and done about everything simple I can think of. I’ll check plugs next but they’re kind of a b**** to get to and the wife had supper waiting at home. I’m guessin it’s some sort of sensor/ electrical issue or the plugs. But I find it odd that it would be the plugs. I can’t think of any reason why it would be. He’s probably got 3k miles or so... no issues and it’s rode extremly easy and it was running fine when he parked it. Am I missing anything before start pulling it apart or he takes it to the shop?

That is odd, especially since it was running the day by before. Had a Fourtrax on the farm did the same thing to us, turned out a mouse chewed the wire from the CDI box kept signal from going to coil keeping it from firing up.

Pull your seat back, 5 bolts.
Grab any ol spark plug you have and connect it to the coils to check for spark. If good spark, pulls your actual plugs and check again.

That seems like what Jackal mentioned rodent. It is that time of year. To go from running to not just sitting there is strange. I’m assuming no codes?

Seriously though, I would say it is a rat or mouse problem. With this cold weather, the mice were attracted to the heat and have now chewed up the wires.

At least you have two machines to work with side by side. I would get your multimeter and start testing power at the coils and go from there

And if you upload a video, don't stomp your feet on the floorboards after you stop cranking, making someone think it was coughing and sputtering!
