P1000 Windshield defrosting

I have yet to find a decent way to defrost the inside of my windshield during the winter. Right now I'm using a spongelike windshield cleaner but would prefer something with forced heated air.

Any suggestions?

1. Remove windshield, get a snowmobile helmet.

2. Add a cab heater. Most available heaters for the cabs have 3 ducts - 2 for heat and 1 for defrost.

It would be very helpful if you communicated what machine you have as well as pics.

I have not experienced this issue yet as I’ve recently just purchased the pioneer 1000-5 in August and have yet to drive it in the cold but have been thinking this issue might be a problem. I’ve had this issue with a John Deere we had for work and have been thinking about how I’m going to deal with it this winter myself . I’ve been looking at those mini propane golf cart heaters that sit in the cup holder. My unit is stored outside under my deck. I generally keep it covered up until recently when I discovered a block of ice on top of my cover preventing removal of the cover. Spent a half hour trying to get the cover off without ripping the fabric. So I’ll keep it uncovered for the winter as I don’t want to play around with covers come plow time. I picked up a windshield cover from amazon a few days ago to keep the snow off which I just got but haven’t installed yet but was thinking I might try one of those mini propane golf cart heaters would take care of the windshield defrosting while I’m warming the machine up. I haven’t bought it yet to try but have been thinking I’m going to encounter the same problem you described. My cab isn’t closed up and haven’t decided if I’m going to do that. So cab heaters aren’t likely in my future although that is probably the best option. If you come up with any ideas or suggestions let us know . I’ll keep an eye on this thread. I might pick up one of these heaters to try. Worst case I’m out $70 bucks if it’s a s***ty idea which is likely.

I’m assuming your cab is closed up? I was at my dealership 2 weeks ago and my wife was asking me how come we don’t have at least the front doors sealed up as we have a windshield and back panel? I think that was a hint. I got some pricing from my dealer for Honda oem uppers front doors only. I’m hesitant as I’ve read here that it is still drafty and makes little difference plus I’m coming off an ATV that I was exposed to the weather the past 7 years. I can only think of 1 time plowing on a cold -7 degree night while it was snowing that i was a little uncomfortable out in the weather. I’m sure my wife and I have different opinions on comfort in the bad weather. I’m in construction in the northeast and spent 35 years outside no matter the weather. I’m getting soft though and thinking about door uppers.

I use mine for work around the house and hunting. I have the soft doors and rear panel with Honda roof and windshield. I put the diesel heater in to make it easier on a hunting buddy of mine that was sick. When I’m hunting I’m dressed for the outdoors so I shut it down after it clears the windshield. Sometimes i’ll fire it back up and warm up when I eat my lunch if it’s real cold.

I have a 1000-5 with hard windshield, back window, and soft door uppers. I mounted a school bus 2-speed window fan on upper roll bar, passenger side. I plowed today in -2 degree weather. Window started to fog, ran the fan on low and it cleared right up. No heat in cab. Just an option to consider..
