P1000 Windshield Damage

I ordered a windshield and roof through Honda Powersports online for my 1000-5 and have been waiting a few weeks for it to arrive (from Arizona to Virginia). I couldn't wait to open it and found that the windshield is cracked and some hardware was missing (I presume they fell out of the damaged box). I submitted a claim already but has anyone experienced this with Honda Powersports and if so, how did the resolution go? I'm concerned about lead time for a new one and if they are going to request it to be returned due to the size.

The claim will go against the shipping company. It's a crap shoot if they want the damaged goods to try to recoup some of the costs. With what it is, I suspect they won't ask for this back. Just a guy taking his best guess though.

I wonder if a glass company could replace it as a last resort?

We have constant issues with damaged freight in our business. Most companies we deal with make it right, then bill then freight company to recover the money.

Thank you for the advice. Turns out that Honda wants the windshield back and is replacing it. I am having them come pick up the windshield instead of having to drop it off (just so everyone knows that this is an option). They are also choosing to send the new one via UPS Freight this time instead and are filing a damage claim against the shipping company. Hopefully the new windshield doesn't come broken too and it comes faster than this one did! Also note that you have to go through the accessory company for Honda and not through Honda Powersports..

Sucks to have to deal with that, but at least it is getting taken care of for you.

Nothing to do with Honda but everything to do with online purchase and delivery.
Ordered Bushwacker fender flares for the truck. Opened the box, 3 of the 4 were damaged, two cracked and one a deep scratch. Called it in and they promptly sent new ones, didn't want the old ones back. Went to install new ones and one was cracked and there was no hardware in the box. Checked first box and sure enough hardware was in there and just so happened that the one I needed was the good one in old box. Must be living right. After install, noticed little gaps here and there, no big deal. But one had a pretty good sized gap and in a bad spot. Took pics, sent to Bushwacker, third set sent out. Haven't even opened that box yet but holy sh**, I have a lot of flares now!

Update: Second windshield that came off of back order just arrived today. It is smashed to bits. 0/2 on shipping companies and now I have two windshields that the dealer wants back with no way of getting them back. I'll find out tomorrow how the dealer wants to handle it now.

I cant say ive ever had a broken glass windshield arrive at the 2 dealers ive worked at.

They might want to check before they ship them, to assure they arent broken before sending them your way. I assume they look first, but nothing would surprise me.

Its insane the amount of expensive replacement parts we get in that are damaged. We went through Goldwing ISGs before we got 1 that wasnt cracked. There over $2k a piece.

Final Update! After four months we have come to a resolution. The dealer decided they were not going to send another windshield about a month ago as it would likely break. They wanted the broken windshield back and I reluctantly agreed to drive 25 miles to the nearest UPS store to drop it off because they couldn't/wouldn't schedule a pickup. After a dozen tries to get in touch with them they finally decided that it would cost too much money ($300) to ship a broken windshield back to them so all they needed were (more) pictures of the windshield to confirm it's broken and would issue a refund. It is finally over though.
I strongly advise against ordering anything glass from Honda directly. Pick it up from the dealer as it will likely result in the same nightmare.

I think you actually purchased the windshield from a Honda dealer not "Honda Powersports." Myt guess is it was either an ordinary Honda Powersports dealer like one in Arizona or a parts retailer that sells Honda parts.

I'm sure it was a disappointing episode but glad you finally received a refund.

The shipping company's are having issues today. I ordered Fox shocks. found the best deal on eBay. Shipped from a Power Sports dealer in Ohio. Took FedEx 10 days to get them to Utah. On Wednesday, I get a call the shocks will arrive this day, please be ready with ID, and someone over 21 to sign for them Thursday, I get the same call, no show again. Friday, another call, (Calls are recordings), no mention of a ID this time, again, no show. Checking the tracking Number for all days shows packages in Salt Lake! Saturday, truck shows up, just the box with the front shocks. Driver does not want ID, or a signature. I ask what is going on, driver says the company cant get help to work the warehouse. Folks are paid more to sit at home by the gov then FedEx will pay to come to work....... Sunday, the box with the rear shocks shows up!
