I was looking for advice on servicing my Honda 1000. I plan on trying to change oil and filters every winter like I do on every other piece of equipment. I was curious if any one could share a detailed list on what all they do to service there machine. I have already had my initial first service done. Wasn’t sure how many spots should get greased or get attention..... I have watched several videos on changing the oil and clutch oil...... anything else you would change or grease after a year of riding in trails.

Hi,
Welcome to the club.
  • Oil
  • Filters both Engine & DCT.. Honda says every 1200 miles.
  • Check Air filter.
  • Check coolant, sub trans oil, diff oil.
That's about all for common services.
every second year change.
  • Coolant
  • Sub trans oil
  • Differential oil
Things to check and grease
  • Ball joints - buy a needle for your grease gun and put some in, these are often overlooked.
  • Grease wheel bearings - There is a bearing greaser
  • Check a-arm bolts and bushings. Put a wrench on the a-arm main frame bolts and check tight.
  • Brakes.
  • Tie rods and tie rod ends for loose. Grease these too with the needle.
If sitting for a long time I would do the following.
  • Full tank of gas and add stabilizer.
  • Block intake tube to keep rodents out. (don't forget to unblock it)
  • Buy some rodent repellent and spray around.
What else?

Just follow the maintenance schedule.. only other thing I would add to Hondasxs’s list is your cable adjustments.

Is that E-town Ky?

With the needle grease tip what are you greasing in the stock ball joints? Under the rubber cover?
