What’s it worth?

ok.. I ran across a 2004 4x4 Rancher AT with 500 miles and less than 200 hours. Bike looks perfect and runs/starts good, been well kept and hasn’t been used for anything other than running up and down the hill to the lake. I was wanting a manual foot shift but don’t know anything about the Honda AT (it’s automatic or Electric thumb shift). What’s it worth? I still think I want a foot shift model... so would anyone be interested in this thing if I buy it and don’t like it??

I have a lot of friends with the Honda "AT" 4 wheelers and they absolutely love them! I am like you...I am still beating up my old fourtrax with the foot shift! :) I would dare say that if you did pick it up and not like it you should not have an issue passing it on. Sounds like it is in good shape. Honda's like that do not stay for sale long around here...if they even make it to the public...most people have "friends" begging for them before they even selling them.

You will like it! My Dad has two autos and you can put in manual mode and shift with the button.

Good condition with ok tires and good cosmetics.
Under 3500 miles it's worth about 2500 to 2800
Anymore miles and 2500 is good price
They sold for 3600 to 4000
Thumb shift or"ESP" mode is proven tough
500 miles ain't squat.

Had me a little concerned when you do a google search on the AT seems like there were a lot of problems early on

I wouldn't pay a nickel more. 13yrs old might need a carb cleaning. These were full time 4wd i believe. Get it. Ill bring my new old Suzuki to the takeover and we will do a retro ride !

I’d say $2500 being 13 years old there’s gonna be some stuff that needs to be fixed, cleaned, replaced simply due to age if it hasn’t got but 500miles on it.

I have an '06 Foreman with the thumb shift and it has been super. Thought that I would miss my foot shift but I haven't.

Around here rigs like mine are bringing $2500 - $2800 and that's a 500 foreman.

I believe this was the second (and last) application of the CVT Hondamatic like the original Rubicon. Probably the best tranny Honda ever made...at least in the Rubicon version.

The memories are very foggy, but If i recall, there was an issue with the machine not downshifting/backshifting properly in early units, and the result was bogging/lack of power. I think this was resolved with a software update maybe??? Maybe @HondaTech will have some input.

$3000...i dunno. If its in really good shape i guess.

$2800 tops. With 500 miles and around 200 hrs is a lot of idle time. If the tires are original, they will "look" like they only have 500 miles with little wear. I looked at a 2013 foreman the other day with 300 miles on it but the condition it was in seemed bad for 300 miles come to find out the dash was changed out. As for the thumb shift I love it, it's also been around for about 20 yrs. some people look down on electric shift because they think it's just something else to go wrong, look at it this way if your foot shifter strips out or breaks off your done but if your electric shift goes out you still have a hand shifter stored under the seat that will attach to the side of the motor that will allow you to shift so you can get back home. The hand shifter comes with all electric shift hondas.

Hunter rode his ‘02 Rubicon last year. You have to go back 30 years to be retro on Honda ATVs.

It's worth 2500 all day if it fires and runs and looks good. I have a 2003 now with 5500 and it is getting its first valve job:D
