I got a heck of a deal on a new warm winch the other day. 60% off a display unit at northern tool. It’s a warn 4000 lbs. utility winch and it’s shaped a little different than the vantage series, but everything fit and works well. I also didn’t want to pay extra $$$ for a Honda winch plate so I had a local fab shop sell me a 16” x 1/2” steel plate. I drilled it out and mounted the winch upside down. The utility winch is made for trailers I guess, it had a solenoid mounted on the winch with a plastic cover and remote port. I was able to remove that, bought some lawnmower battery cables and relocate the solenoid under the hood. Then ran extra wires to a rocker switch. I’m impressed with how clean the install works and so far don’t have any complaints. Figured I’d share what I did and let me know what you guys think.
