well I have a 14ft single axle trailer with a 3500lbs axle. well the trailer gvwr is 2950lbs and the trailer it self weighs 1450lbs so that leaves me with a maximum payload capacity of 1400lbs and the pioneer 1000-5 weighs 1709lbs. now I wish when I bought my trailer I would of purchased the tandem axle version. should I be worried about this current trailer or just keep on riding and make Shure my insurance is up to date.

You should be fine - I too have a 6.5x14 single axle trailer and will be dragging my P1K5D on mine.

If it has a 3500lb axel and the trailer weighs 1450 that would give you 2050 for capacity. Where's the 2950 coming from?

Here in Mn the trailer will qualify for a lifetime registration if the trailer GWVR is <3000 lbs. I wonder if that is the case in many states.
I may have a trailer with a single 3500 lb axle and it may be built like a tank and it may have a one time (lifetime) registration on the tongue.

Gotcha we don't have that here.

I wouldn't worry too much about the trailer, more importantly, what is the rating for the tires? Make sure you also have proper tire pressure.

1750 per tire I just don't like the idea of always hauling at the maximum capacity of my trailer

I used to be exactly the same way, however if you look at the majority of items we use everyday, (1/2 ton trucks, motorcycles or boat trailers as a glaring example) you will find that almost EVERYTHING

WHOOPS, Hit send somehow! As I was saying, almost everything is at maximum capacity. Tires are really the biggest worry, and yet it is getting harder and harder to get decent trailer tires..all of them are off shore it seems. Regardless, I would much rather have a single axle trailer for hauling than a dual axle, much easier on the trailer backing up and twice as cheap to replace tires regularly, because they don't wear out, they rot out from the sun.....

Part of your load will be on the vehicle hitch as well.
