P1000 Tire/wheel questions

I'm wanting to get some new tires and wheels for the P1000 and have a few questions. I think I want the 28" Blackwater Evolution on either HD3 or HD7 14" wheels. I want a little bigger, more aggressive, and better all around tire than the stock tires, and I want something that will fit without a lift. I will be mostly trail riding on rocky terrain in Arkansas, gravel and dirt, and a little mud here in Louisiana but nothing too extreme. From what I've read these sound like a good choice.

1) Does anyone have pictures of this combo?
2) 28x10-14 all around will fit with no rubbing without a lift right?
3) What are the pros/cons of having the same width all around versus 9" in front and 11" in rear?

I have 28x10-14 Rocktane XD-K's on 14" STI HD Beadlocks with no lift and have had no issues with rubbing. The Rocktanes run true to size, but from what I have gathered the Evo's run a little small. Some of the guys that have the 28" Evo's can speak to that better than I can. I have the same size all around. I like that for the purpose of being able to rotate the tires and being able to have a spare that will go onto any wheel position.

What offset are you looking at? Mine are 5+2 and the front width is about 1" wider than the rear. That increases the amount of mud you have to dodge but not to a great extent.

The 28" EVOs will be true to size and mine measured 28.25".

One thing to think about is the weight of this machine and how much sidewall you will have. Personally on the pioneer 1000 I would use a 12 inch wheel in a 28 inch tire. That would give you more cushion to protect the wheel from breaking. I only mention that because you said that you'll be riding in rocky terrain.

I know someone that has 30 inch Evo's on 12 inch wheels and they ride very good.

Yeah, I read about the benefit of rotating and having a spare, any others advantages or more importantly, disadvantages? Why are stocks always more narrow in the front?

I guess 5+2, I don't really know much about the offset and what that does. 5+2 is the only option when I select those wheels on Rocky Mountain ATV.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. I just like the way the 14" wheels look with the 28" tires.

Anybody have any input as to why stock tires are more narrow in the front and any disadvantage to going with the 10" all around? Or anybody have the Blackwater/HD3 combo? I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a set, just trying to decide between 10" or 9" and 11". Want to make sure the 28x10 won't rub without a lift.

I think you'll be fine with 10's all around. You will probably want A spacer for the back to make the rear tires the same track as the front.

Would I need a 1" spacer?

The rear hubs are set in approximately 1" more narrow that the front. Honda uses different offset wheels front and rear. You don't need to get spacers but your rear track will be two inches more narrow total. It just bugged me.

Might want to consider a set of mudbusters. I have 30" Evos on 14" rims with 5+2. The fronts will throw mud all over you. Installed the flares and no more problems. You'll love those tires. They work great in just about anything you throw at them.

You could do that if you could find a matching wheels with different backspacing.

That's what I ran into with the Hd6s. Only offered in the 5+2.

Vision Wheels has 14x7 and 14x8 options with a lot of their wheels. The 14x7 wheels are 4+3 and the 14x8 are 4+4. You would have different wheels widths from the back but that would give you the same width for the front and rear axles.

No spacers. The difference didn't bother me enough to buy them.

What wheels are those? Offset info etc?

They are NSA f1 rotary forged in 14x7 with the 4x3 offset. Tires are 28. I have a post in tires and wheels with before and after measurements
