Guys what is the best gps app to use. I am going to go riding this weekend by myself and don't want to get loss. There is some places not far from me and I want to check it out before I get others riders to join.

ORUX MAPS has worked well for me & @Hondasxs. I use it on a 10" Android tablet and ram mount, have all trails in TN, WV, UT, CO stored on it.

This is another one @DGann I haven't personally used orux but I've heard a lot about it.

I recently tried RideCommand for IPhone. It's not bad. It's supposed to track other riders but I haven't tried that part yet

Motionx I think does this also. I've never tried it. Ride command last time I tried it would lose track of you when the screen went off or it lost signal. Then it would draw a straight line from where it lost signal to where you are when it came back on.

I've used MotionX for years as a highway GPS. Maybe I should try it for off road use.

They make several apps. I use a topo map on the version I use. Just track all my movements and then I can save if needed and put waypoints for anything exciting (waterfall, mud hole, etc). It does WAY more than I use it for but I haven't needed all the extra crap.

You have to go riding with other Popos for the buddy tracker to work.
Real Pioneer fan boys would never try to load RideCommand on there phone.
don't forget to pack your hot dogs.

Probably so the CIA can track where you've been to help Polaris deny warranty requests or help Boris find you in his stealth black helicopter.

To bad Honda doesn't have a GPS app. For iOS.

What Android tablet are people using? I hate that the IPhone gps chip will not work when you don't have signal and hear the Android tablets with GPS chips continue to work.

I messed with back country and orux a little in my truck. Think I liked the orux better. Better user interface and the tracking points were a lot closer together. Download them all and test them in your truck to see what you like.

The iPhone gps does work without signal. You have to have a device that has cellular connectivity though. I.e. My iPhone gps works all be time but my iPad that is wifi only will not work.
