I have seen 4 of these broken door latches. Mine just broke on the passenger side. I'm getting close to 42,000 miles so I will be adding a fender washer to the driver's side too and also on all 4 doors on my 4-seater. To remove the door panel, you only have to remove a few Phillips screws.

Thanks for the fix! I believe we have the driver-side broke on our 35k mile talon also and I was trying to think of a fix!

My driver's side door was still closing but broken also. The plastic was damaged from the movement, so I drilled a hole and added a 5mm bolt through the plastic to align and tighten it. I'm going to put 50,000 miles on my Talon R 4-seater so I'm adding the washer support now at a bit over 5,000 miles.

Taking Bob's idea a bit further (because I can weld and tend to over-fix anything that breaks), I'll cut an overlay and edge weld it wherever I can get the torch tip. Any overlay should have pointy ends because a straight weld across that strap 'might' break again. It's a common practice when welding on a vehicle frame. I might even skip welding the two points, doing the top and bottom edges only.

It looks like the ? box can be removed with two bolts allowing better weld access?

The latch part costs around $20. It is the same part from 2019 to 2024. I expect they will all break so adding the support washer may be an easy fix. The side net will keep the door closed. I used a ratch strap to keep it from rattling. Welding additional support will be a good fix.

I think adding a washer before it breaks might prevent the problem from ever happening.

The newer Talons have a bolt with a small washer. It just covers the elongated hole. I added the larger washer on my 2023 Talon R 4-seater. Several of the Phillips screws that go into the plastic outer door were stripped. I will be installing slightly larger screws to fix it. The bottom picture is my 2019 with the bolts without the washer.
