Ok guys
I took a 2017 1000-5 and a cam am defender hd10 (with power steering) for a ride today. I realize one can seat 5 vs 3 but both are really nice machines. So tell me why I shouldnt buy the defender? I know a fairer comparison is the 3 seat version on the pioneer.....

Totally your decision. I drove them both and bought a Honda P1000 - 3 EPS.

Very happy with my decision.

Thanks. I do like the cab and seating better in the defender. Nooks and crannies everywhere. Adjustible seating. They are just really well thought out machines.

The pioneer did feel like it drove better and of course there are those flip up seats.

The handling along with the versatility (and of course it is a Honda) were what fit my needs the most.

Same with me. I had it narrowed down to the same 2, but still ended up with P1000-5. My son has been racing MX for the last 10 years on nothing but Hondas & the bikes (stock & modified) were & are very reliable & pretty much bullet proof. So that helped my decision.
After putting 90 + miles on the P1k last weekend I am glad that I made that decision. Very comfortable & the six speed tranny was fun to drive with speeds up to 65. You can do anything with the Defender that you can do with the P1K5 except add 2 more people.
But this is just my opinion, the decision is ultimately yours.

My nephew has the Can-Am and really drives the heck out of it. Nice center handle for passengers. Very sporty, Nice roll cage. My P15 just fit what we wanted in a machine.

I'm not brand bias, I've owned quite a few different makes and models. My needs was a machine with at least 4 seats and a sport utility. The 1000-5 was the ticket because of its size , I didn't want a schoolbus size machine during deer season when it's just me, but when the family wants to load up its very much accomodating. Has plenty of power and rides great. Hard to beat that
