P1000 Tailgate you can actually put weight on

I am a husky person and got tired of being nervous about putting too much weight on the factory tailgate. Figured a new tailgate is $60 so didn't have anything to lose. Will close it with textured HDPE or some treadplate not sure which I will like better.

That's awesome. I had similar concerns and added a double layer of 3/4 plywood. I like your setup better.

It is steel frame in order to reuse the factory pivot tube.

Yeah I made some real strong ones for the 700. But Even after what I thought was thorough testing the hdpe really expands and contracts. You have to oversized the fastener holes alot. I had a thread on here somewhere. I even have a brand new one boxed and ready for shipping but pulled the ad when the sun hit mine and buckled it up.

Thanks for the info. How thick was your HDPE?

1/4 inch. The stuff has held up great. I just quit worrying about how it looks when it buckles up. I could bore out the screw holes some more but I have a sheet of aluminum laying around waiting for the project some day.
