The club has never been to Tackett Creek. But we have riders who have and we are hoping to plan a trip for 2018. TN is wanting to release this land from the North Cumberland Wildlife Managemt Area. If this happens it will become private land and most likely off limits.

So the story is... TN leased the 42,000 acre Tackett Creek area for 5 years, there is some great trails and scenery, both equally extreme. TN has not decided if they want to continue with keeping it as part of TWRA. Locals are pushing to keep it.

So did Tennessee lease this land from private parties and the deal is that the state is considering not renewing their lease? That would be different from say selling off long held state land. Just trying to get clarity on what has/is happening there. If the state has been leasing this land....tax payer money, are they just making budget cuts or is this something else???
